Wales was taken out of the game with 5 min. to go in the 2nd quarter. He carried the ball 14 times. Do not put Central's coach in the same boat as Matney. Scroggins could have went for the state record. Wales could have had well over 600 yards rushing.

 

As I stated in the intial thread, Coach did it right! Didn't know the details and asked for them in my initial post.

My main point in that reply to your earlier post is that the first team to pull the one's in a blowout should be the team that is winning, not the team that is losing as you seemed to say in your post.

 

No, I said that the team losing should essentially submit, and show that they're acknowledging defeat by pulling their starters. And then agreed that if theirs a running clock going it should've probably been done by the winning team before it even got to that point.

As was alluded to above, how does one team "submit" and pull starters when they've only got 16 kids on the roster to begin with?

 

The impetus is on the team with the big lead to pull their starters first (as Scroggins did, it appears). It's not like a team has a magical 6-touchdown play that immediately erases a huge deficit like you see in video games. If the other team gets too close for comfort, the winning team can always re-insert a few starters to get things back under control, if necessary.
