So can a resident of Boone Co. pay tuition to go to a another High School in Boone Co. other than the one they are assigned to? Or are they forced to go out of county to go to a school other than the one assigned?

No. They cannot pay tuition to play in another Boone school.

I don't understand why Boone Co. School system would have a rule like this. So in a scenario where a family chooses they do not want their child going to the school he or she is in district for they are forced to go completely out of the Boone Co. System or move. Does this happen often? Are there Boone Co. kids attending other NKY public schools such as Dixie, Beechwood or any other school?

What about attending Walton Verona in Boone County? Totally different public school system than the BCBOE schools!

Yes there are some. I don't if the number is meaningful.

You can live in Boone County and pay to send your child to WV if you don't live in either Walton or Verona.

You can attend WV while living in a non-WV district if you are able to pay the tuition.

I was talking about just the Boone BOE schools.

My guess is that the rules are in place to the long-time exploding population in the county.

Yes, other NKY schools get kids from Boone County. I would guess most of those are private schools such as St Henry, Villa, CCH, NDA plus Beechwood.

I spoke with someone in the Boone Co. School system this weekend and he told me that it is handled on a case to case basis in Boone. He gave the example of one of the Boone Co. Basketball players living in Cooper's School district and being allowed to go to Boone.

I have cousins who live in Boone County. Neither my aunt or uncle teach in any of the schools, and they've lived in Ryle's school district for about 19 years. The oldest attended Ryle, as was appropriate given their address, but the second oldest ended up attending Boone County HS so he could continue playing sports with the kids he grew up with. Not sure how that worked...but it did. He graduated last May. :idunno:

I understand they have some problems down state in Lex and Lou but in NK if there is any recruiting going on it is not the privates.

The districts had to be redrawn when Cooper High School was added to the system. Just a guess, but possibly your cousin lives in an area that once fell under Ryle's district and has subsequently been reclassified to be in Boone's district.

They live off of Pleasant Valley, but he was attending Boone County before Cooper opened. I believe Cooper opened for the '07/'08 school year, and his freshman year was '06/'07. ...I know his younger sister is starting at Ryle next year, so that's a little bit of another twist.
