According to Jody Demling:

Warren Central forward George Fanttook visits to Iowa and Penn State and considered several other school out of the state of Kentucky.

But in the end, Fant isn't leaving Bowling Green.

The 6-foot-8 Fant, considered the top homegrown in-state prospect in the Class of 2011, has given a verbal commitment to Western Kentucky University.

Fant averaged 15 points and eight rebounds a game as a junior when he helped the Dragons to the Fourth Region title. He was named second-team All-State as a junior.

Western now has three commitments, includin Deng Leek and Derrick Gordon, in the '11 class.

I'm very happy for George. I just hope he can live up to the expectations, because I think they will be heaped upon him by the hometown fans.

Congrats to Fant.

Have had the pleasure of seeing a few times over the past few years and the kid is no doubt a player.

Good luck to George and I wish him nothing but the best.

Who was the last male basketball player from Warren County/BG to commit to Western? I know Clemmette Haskins did from the women's side of things but are there any males who stayed in BG and went to Western Kentucky University?

I am very happy for George. I wish him well.

I think Casey Simpson for Bowling Green was the last player to do it on scholarship. Matt Maresca walked on this decade.

Western is putting together a really good recuiting class for 2011.

This according to Demling:

Western Kentucky University basketball coach Ken McDonald has been rolling on the recruiting front, picking up two big commitments since last Friday.

Now, the Hilltoppers will try to keep it going.

McDonald will host commitments George Fant of Warren Central and Derrick Gordon (right) of Elizabeth, N.J., along with Clark County standout Vinny Zollo for Hilltopper Hysteria on Friday.

"Yes it will be us there," Gordon said.

Fant and Gordon along with Greensboro, N.C., Veritas center Deng Leek have already made commitments. Zollo, a former Kentucky commitment, is a prime target for the Hilltoppers.

WKU is also still after California guard Cezar Guerrero.

Rumor in my neck of the woods is that GRC's Vinny Zollo will be a Hilltopper. Have you heard this GS?
