Thomas played in one more game, so if you want to go with fantasy ppg, Benson outscored him roughly 13 to 11 on average. That was with Benson carrying the full load and Thomas in a time-share with Bush and Mike Bell. Bell is gone and Bush is hurt...two guys who accounted for about 15 fantasy points per game in 2009. It's not a question of consistency, it's a question of added workload in a far better offense with the knowledge that his production in a time share in that offense was very close to Benson's. There's a chance his production could skyrocket. And, if it doesn't, and he stays at his current level, it's basically the same. In fact, he's outscored Benson through 2 games in 2010. It's a simple risk vs. reward...in this case, I see virtually no risk, and a possibly big reward.

Now that Bush is out Thomas is going to get all the carries plus passes out of the backfield on a highly productive offense. Benson as a better fantasy threat than Thomas right now is crazy IMO. Not only do the Bengals not run as much this year, but they also have more weapons on offense and he has a good back behind him. Thomas will get plenty of carries and few teams hit backs out of the backfield as well as New Orleans does. Not saying he's the better player, but fantasy-wise, I don't even think its close going forward this year especially considering Cincy's schedule.

Start two running backs: I have: Best vs Minny Foster vs Dallas B Jackson vs Chicago Bradshaw vs Tennessee P Thomas vs Atlanta I need to pick two. I think right now I like Foster and Best. Tough decision. PPR I like Thomas, and it's hard to sit Best but I don't see him running well against Minny. Foster would be my choice.

Non PPR Benson creeps closer to being equal to PT. With Bush out and no real backup option I look for Thomas to be a major player during his absence.
