I was thinking of that, but one they get to Frankfort would they be better to get on 64 to Louisville and up 71, or 64 back to 75 and then north?

 

US 127 is a very easy drive -- nice wide road and not a huge amount of traffic -- so you could avoid a lot of excess traffic, and it's a much prettier trip. Just pick up I-71 north once you get into Gallatin Co. Besides, with traffic as atrocious as it always is in Lex even on good days, it doesn't take that much longer to go the most direct route, which is 127.

I think they'd be good either way, but I'd stick with either 127 the whole way or heading toward I-75. Going to Louisville would seem to be out of the way, plus getting from 64 to 71 in Louisville isn't very quick (and there's construction right now).

 

Going to L'ville is most definitely a long way out of the way. Take 127 all the way north of Owenton, and the road eventually turns into Ky 35, which runs into I-71 at Kentucky Speedway in Gallatin Co.

I was just getting ready to start a thread about the WEG and how much of a waste of our taxpayer dollars it is. I find it very hard to believe we're going to recapture enough European dollars to make up for the cost to us.

 

Most Kentuckians understand the fact that horses are for racing, not prancing around like silly ballerinas. That's why ticket sales have been incredibly slow.

 

Well, somebody is buying the expensive tickets. My wife says the Maker's Mark Bourbon Village is sold out every day but 3 of the 16 days. Those tickets are $650 apiece and don't even get you into an event.

Not saying I wouldn't rather go to Keeneland, but it is very cool.

I live off Georgetown Rd on the North end of Lexington. I am pretty close to the event and still can't muster enough interest to go see whats it about. I am excited that Keeneland starts in less than 2 weeks... :banana:

I went to the reining competition on Sunday. It was in the indoor arena and I would say it was 3/4 full. I think the value on the tickets were $55. Like I said earlier, I know zero about any of the events, but it was entertaining for my wife and I as well as my 2 year old.

Just got home from a full day out at the Horse Park. Was a good day. I was out there for work where the company I work for, KORT Physical Therapy has a treatment area in the Covered Arena where Para-Dressage is taking place. I got to walk around a bunch but the only events I say were the Individual Tests for Para-Dressage for Class II Riders and Ia and Ib riders. It was a great time. I helped our therapist treat athletes through out the afternoon and I got to meet many competitors and coaches. It was a blast. These athletes were amazing!! All of the athletes have certain disbailities that limit them in some way, but it was amazing to watch them control the horse.

 

I am still most amazed at one girl for Denmark who is a bilateral leg amputee up to the pelvis. She rides on her sadle without any special straps and controlled the horse amazingly. She ended up third in her field overall.

 

The crowd was not very big for the events but it was steady. I think vaulting and jumping really drew most of the followers though.
