Only problem with the night games is when the sun goes down in April, it's generally pretty dang cold.

Concessions can sell coffee or hot chocolate, the media would take it....especially if offered for free and they could possibly cover the game.

 

What's that old saying...."Brew it and the media will drink it". Anything to get them to a game for some coverage for the players.

 

We get pretty fair coverage in Clark Co. on about all levels of baseball. The local sports reporter for our dailey newspaper is usually at every game at least for most of it unless their is a schedule conflict or something. Then he'll get the book from the coach and write from that plus he generally will interview the coach and a few players. Our Overall coverage is good. Keith Taylor does it well for the Winchester Sun.

I know a really good thing our AD did, was put it in the contract with the radio station. They do all of our Football games, majority of basketball games (Maybe all), then he put in 4 or 5 baseball games. It was nice to have them on the radio, except it would kill me to listen to them, knowing they're on the radio and have no clue what they are talking about.

We always serve hot chocolate on cold days. We brew coffee every game. If the radio station broadcasts a game, the guys doing the games eat free. We've been known to give an ump or two a hot dog and a cold pop, as well. Depending how the game went, that is.

Do many radio stations do games across the state.

In Eastern Ky, Boyd County has a radio station with them all the time. Almost every game.

Because I care, and by the looks of it, so don't a few others. It's like advertising a new product. You have to get it on a "billboard" to get the name out. If you don't advertise, no one is going to buy it. In order to have one's product to sell, you have to advertise.

We have support from our radio station no matter where we travel. They have broadcast games from Florida, Alabama, California, and Las Vegas just while I was invilved with them. Our local newspaper also does an excellant job with photos and stories about our youth leagues t-ball and up. These are just some of the many attributes that makes us the King of Baseball in Kentucky.

 

You are absolutely right! Harrison Co. has always had GREAT support from the Democrat and WCYN. I can still remember going with my dad across the state when he did color for the Breds on WCYN. Growing up I thought all teams had a radio station broadcast their games. Man, was I wrong! You guys should be really grateful for the time and effort the folks in Cynthiana put into the baseball program! :thumb:

Not only at the high school level, but there was a time when WCYN would also broadcast a "little league game of the week". It is just one of the perks of being in a small town that truly supports thier young people.

Many small town communities support and enjoy Baseball. Where most all residents know everyone and you watch players grow from young tike's, to grown athletes and follow their progress.
