Headed to Oxford

I wish Hoover wasn't afraid to play South Panola. I know South Panola calls them every year to play and they won't agree to a home and home. ESPN has ever been involved at one point then when Hoover wouldn't agree ESPN flew Apopka FL up here to play them.

Seems odd, because they have played some really good teams over the years. I wonder why they wont agree to it? I've never seen SP play, but I have obviously heard about them. Would be a great game I'm sure. Hoover was high powered offense when I was down there with JP and Chad Jackson...they seem to be all about the D this year.

So my son and I left for Oxford today and we're in Nashville. Just got back from Broadway St hanging out at the local joints listening to some so-so music.

Heading to Olive Branch tomorrow for the high school game with South Painola.

Paradise Park? I guess not if you said "so-so music." Maybe the Karaoke bar?

I am leaving Johnson City, TN in 1 hour...meeting a group from Lexington in Nashville at noon and picking our boy up at the airport coming in from Boston. Hope to be in Oxford by 6ish. This is our 3rd year of hitting the "west schools" and I'm as excited about this trip as I've been about any of them. Go CATS! See you guys down south.

Tootsie's. Not one of their better bands. We were hoping Troy Brooks would be playing at PP but he wasn't.

We're in Olive Branch getting ready to go see a high school game. Ran into some folks from Danville down here for the game. Saw a big group earlier today on Beale St.

Well, we made it back to Oxford. My take on the city is it's over-rated. We had a great time and it was a great experience, but honestly I was expecting more.

The campus is beautiful! The Grove was very fun. Downtown Oxford reminded me of downtown Richmond with fewer taxi's. We went to a few bars (Proud Larry's, Rooster's, City Grocery, Funky's and The Library). The Library was BY FAR the best one. Young crowd, but very fun. I counted the number of people in Roosters at 11:00 on Friday night and there were a grand total of 22 people in there.

The majority of the people of Oxford were very nice. We had a run-in with a University cop who was a total jerk, but he was the exception to the rule.

Overall, it was an OK trip. If I had to give it a grade, I'd give it a B-.

You must not have been upstairs at Roosters...there were 15 people in my group and we were absolutely not alone up there. It was PACKED.

We closed Tootsies Thursday night/Friday early morning and thought the bad was awesome.

I take it you meant "The Band".
