Except for when superstars get traded for each other, I can't think of a potential trade that would have as much upside for a team in Denver's position.

 

If I were Denver I'd actually take this deal over one from Chicago that involved Noah. Favors has the potential to be a beast down low, and Noah has just about peaked and will command a pretty large amount of cap space going forward. Noah isn't a guy you can build a championship team around, Favors might be and the Nuggets will be able to add young pieces around him rather than just having a big name big guy at a high price tag. JMO.

 

I also think this may make the Nets better than the Bulls. I think Lopez is better than Noah, Anthony is much better than anyone the Bulls have on the wing. Sure the Bulls have them at PG and PF, but if the Nets could find a way to keep Murphy I think they'd be my pick over the Bulls in a best of 7 series.

 

I agree. The Nuggets aren't doing much better than Favors and a later 1st round pick. The Nets are only offering that if Melo agrees to an extension. I don't know how Denver could do any better if they decide to trade him.

That trade would have looked better for the Nets if they would have done the smart thing and drafted Cousins.

When evaluating trades I typically side with the team that gets a proven star player over potential. The chances of a player living up to potential is a lot less than them fulfilling that potential... especially for a guy in the post. Just shows how bad the Anthony/Nuggets situation is. I am torn on Favors. He never wowed me to the point I felt he would be top shelf player in the NBA. I think a lot put he and Chris Bosh on the same level since they both went to Tech.

 

No one is saying that NJ isn't getting the better part of the deal. I was just saying that if I'm Denver I want to do a deal with NJ rather than Chicago.

I think I said it the wrong way. What I meant to say is that it would be much more appetizing for the Nuggets if the Nets had drafted Cousins over Favors.

Not sure how many more years AK is signed for but if his contract expires then that is an excellent deal for them. One, they could have him to fill the 3 spot this season and contribute a team that would still have Chauncey Billups, Lawson, K Mart, and JR Smith. Secondly, they could try to re sign AK at a lower price for next season or just let go of him altogether and have the cap space. Again not sure how many years he has left on his deal but however many they are there are some large numbers that go with it.

AK47 isn't nearly what he used to be due to health issues. However, he's a solid role player & his expiring contract would be a great addition too.
