Ironton (OH) 43 Ashland 6

Was this game played at "The Tank" or Putnam?

Tank Memorial Stadium.

Let’s not leave out the Ironton band was better too.

Literally, from the opening kickoff until the final horn, it was all Ironton. The Tigers have a very nice team and those kids most definitely wanted this game more. I will leave it to others to talk about stats and strategies, etc…but in a nut shell…Ironton played like a team determined to win.

Congrats to those cross river rivals (and I do hope this becomes a rivalry again).

As for the Tomcats, keep your heads up. There is much more football to be played in this young season. One thing I anxiously await is seeing how these Cats bounce back.

See you next year AshlandOil. :thumb:

If Ironton is down then I'd love to be down like that...

:thumb: Me too!

The best team won! Congratulations to Ironton.

Ashland was dominated at the LOS and never even made a game of it. Sam Hunter was sacked 5 times and thrown down on the 2-point conversion attempt. He was intercepted twice (one of which was returned for at TD). He was nearly intercepted several other times and was under pressure all night – credit Ironton’s defense.

The Tomcats were simply dominated by a better team. Unfortunately, there are several other good teams to face this year before the season is over. Like Painter, I will be interested to see how this team responds.

Wow! Well, this is the last time that I'll listen to the guy that told me Ironton was down. Ashland is a very good football team and to get a thrashing like that tells me that Ironton is that good or Ashland wasn't mentally ready to play last night. I would have to guess that it was a combination of both along with the Tomcats were reading all of their press clippings and bgp post like mine telling them how good they are.

Ashland imo will be fine, alot of times a good team needs a good wake up call and if this wasn't that then I don't know what would be.

Good luck to the Tomcats the rest of the way out.

Graybeard imo the Tomcats will be just fine and as I said earlier last night should be a good wake up call for them. Were there any injuries for the Tomcats last night?

Just our pride (as far as I know).

Ashland will bounce back they are a good team with a good coaching staff. Ashland will have to do a better job at controling the line of scrimmage if they want to beat Johnson Central for the district title, because as everyone knows JC is going to run, run, and then run some more. Congrads to Ironton, and good luck to Ashland you will be a better team for playing the lkes of Ironton IMO.

Running Back, Trey Rogers, left the game late with an akle injury...the severity of which was unknown last night. Also, I believe Shannon Justice was ejected thereby qualifying him for a single game suspension.

Without a doubt
