September 2, 201016 yr Philly. That is the only team that scares me. We are better than the rest of them The same Reds who have a losing record against all of the NL playoff leading teams thus far. They are 5-10 against the 3 teams (ATL 2-3, PHI 2-5, SD 1-2 with 3 remaining). The Reds are good but let's not get ahead of ourselves and declare them the best team in the NL. :lol:
September 2, 201016 yr Which of the potential playoff opponents scares you most as a Reds fan. Mine is Philly. Strong 3 man rotation concerns me. Did I the MLB saying that the Reds have secured the NL Central title? One game at a time, one win at a time and stop worrying about to whom you will play in the playoffs, until the division is won.

I never said they were better but you all make it seem like they are better by miles, I guess I'm just blinded by the head-to-head matchups they've played this season. The Braves have one of the best ERAs in all of baseball and that is why they are atop the division today. Hudson is having a Cy Young type year and is definitely on par with Halladay this year. Oswalt has been inconsistent all year. Oswalt has been great over the years but he has come back down a couple notches this season. Hanson has been pitching well as of late, he just hasn't had any run support. Hammels has turned it on as of late but Jurrjens has pitched better than he has for most of the year. The bullpen is also clearly in favor of the Braves and that isn't even debatable at this point. The Braves have been the better ball club all year, what all of a sudden makes Philly better than them when they have been trailing them the whole season?

The Braves have been hurt all year! Chipper, Heyward, Glaus, Cabrera, Venters, Prado, Jurrjens, McClouth, and the list goes on. The Braves have led all year with multiple injuries like the Phillies have and still lead the division. The injury card has no bearing on this one.

I'm not saying that Atlanta's rotation is better, Philly has a more experienced rotation and that helps them. They are better because of it. BUT people just dismiss Atlanta's rotation but it compares quite favorably to the Phillies and is a lot younger. The Braves have more depth with their pitching but more inexperience as well. Healthy? The Braves haven't been healthy at all this year, you forgot about McCann's eye trouble he continued to have plus Medlen having Tommy John surgery last month. I don't see your logic I guess. Hudson is the only stud. I think I saw that Oswalt's ERA over the last 5 or 6 starts is 1.05. He's hot at the right time.

Looks like just about every start compares similarly with the Phillies as there isn't a huge gap in any category so I don't get where you think their rotation is that much better than the Braves. Yes they are better, but not by as much as you apparently think. Yes it is. Jurrjens and Hanson aren't even on the same planet as any of the Phillies big 3. Hudson is the only one that can stack up, and he's having a career year.
