X wins 55-12.

I look for the Tigers to control the ballgame, but they will not roll up a gigantic offensive score. The offense this season is no where near as potent as it has been in the last three years, and with McMurray out, it becomes even more placid. The Knights young QB will have a good game statistically passing against the St. X. substitutes in the 2nd half, throwing for two TD's in the 4th quarter.

X big. I agree above. LexCath can not compete with the bigs anymore.

 

I think 'anymore' is tough statement. When you go from 32 seniors with a team that almost beat Trinity to one with only 8 seniors and a number of starting sophomores - its going to be more of a challenge, especially in the early part of the season.

LexCath's talent is just too young to compete with X right now. The Talent is there just not polished yet. I can see X winning this game by 4+tds and maybe more. I sure hope I am wrong, but the brain says otherwise.

No I understand all of that - but that was not my question. YOu did play T really tough last year and almost won that game. And obviously LC has not been afraid to take on all comers. I was wondering about the talent pool and level of kids attending. What happened to those ???

See my post above. LC went from 32 seniors last year to only 8 this year. For whatever reason the numbers seem to be oscillate every year. The odd number years are high the even numbered are low. It has been that way for a about 6 years. Last year was unusually high number of seniors and this year is unusually low number. So LC never has had the pool of players that the 6A/5A powers have. LC will dress 90 players on Friday night but that is the entire program including freshman. The team reforms each year and improves as the season goes on. MBKT left out the Trinity game last year. It was the last game. Its early and it will be challenge Friday night.

 

The most competitive match between the schools may be tomorrow night when the freshman play. In recent years LC freshmen have been very competitive and even won some games against the 6As.

Any idea on who is starting at QB for the Tigers against LexCath? I think this offense has the potential to be very potent when McMurry returns. They gained almost 350 yards against a capable Ballard defense last week. I liked the wishbone lineup in the greenzone with Beach, Hayden and Daylen Hall. Add McMurry to this list and you have a slew of playmakers for a defense to stop. Goodwin made some nice catches. Mattingly's speed allowed him to get to the corner to stretch the defense. The OLine did a respectable job all night. Yes, currently a work in progress without Lamont, but the potential is there for a quick striking offense again this year.
