August 31, 201016 yr Beck is a con man - pure and simple. I applaud him for overcoming an addiction. I'm sure that's quite difficult. However, he's full of crap half the time and often tells "un-truths." The beauty is that you and others who dig what he says (and there are obviously many) get many chances to listen to him , buy gold, and buy his books. It's a beautiful world. If only I could grasp the intelligence of others and not be fooled by Beck's theories and crazy rhetoric. What "un-truths" does he speak of. Please list more than 2 or 3, granted every journalist does make mistakes about stories.

So, as one seeking the truth first, what part of the following do you have a problem with?: Equal justice under the law Judge a man by the content of his character not the color of his skin Now is the time to turn to God Now is the time to ask and beg for His forgiveness Now is the time to ask for His help We each need a personal relationship with God. We must know God exists We must learn to trust God when times are bad In so doing, we may have the confidence that things will get better Not being a smart butt... I'm just trying to connect the dots myself. No dots to be connected. I don't have a problem with any of those. However, that doesn't change my opinion of Beck as a huckster. Even Swaggart is alright some of the time.

For example, he's fascinated with comparing this progressives to Nazis. He got called on it and went onto his radio show and denied he made the comparison. Unfortunately, the archives are out there. He said that Kagan supports holding terrorists indefinitely without due process. Debunked by her own comments. They're out there and easy to find. Simply hit that google key. While this would be classified as an opinion, his claim that the President is a "racist" is equally as bad.

If you're honest, (and I believe you are) you would probably have a similar track record. What has gone virtually unreported in the media's search for hatred, bigotry, racism, etc. amid a too white crowd is the fact that Beck's little party raised over $5.5 million for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. Again, you can point out all his flaws and deficiencies, and I may agree with you, but there are few if any among the Hollywood, entertainment, news media or simply the private sector doing anything close to these results.

Bono Jolie Pitt - together gave 8.4 million in 07 Streisand - 10 million in 07 Paul Newman - 20 million in 08 Penn Clooney Cheadle Oprah - 50 million in 07 MJ - 5 million Adam Sandler gave a million to the boys and girls club of him hometown. Rush Limbaugh is a big giver as well. And these people do this every year. I am glad Beck did it, every good cause deserves an advocate. He also paid for the program out of the proceeds before giving the money to the charity. It would have been nice to see him donate some of his own money.

The other point is that they often give their "own" money. But you know - I would sing his praises if he wanted to come raise 2.25 million for me to get a new school. So I am not going to begrudge his giving at all.

My wife gets mad at me but it's not for telling tall tales. It's not for misrepresenting a fact. She might not like my tone or attitude but the content is not the issue. That's the difference. Kudos to Mr. Beck for taking advantage of his pulpit and raising money for a cause we all support.

September 1, 201016 yr I consider this particularly interesting as many Christians don't consider Mormons to be true Christians. Hmmm. Ironic, isn't it? A Mormon saying that. I once heard Mormonism described as 19th century Islam.
