Some A schools would love to have 36 players.

 

I read in another thread that Johnson Central (5A school) usually has 35-40 players on their roster. You can play straight platoon football with 22 so 36 kids isn't a problem if they are all players and that is the way it is this year at Beechwood. Beechwood isn't a platoon team but they are close to it as there are only 1 or 2 players that play both ways all the time. The Tigers are going to be just fine and will keep getting better as all the new talented starters get experience.

It sounds like Beechwood's pass defense must have not been to bad. They only gave up a 100 yds passing to a QB that supposed to be pretty good.

Dixie didn't throw the ball much because they were having success on the ground. I think Pike only had a couple incomplete passes in the game. You have to look at the yardage total in the context of the game. Pike vs Tiger QB's was the clear difference in the game. If he were Beechwood's QB, you could probably flip the score around IMO.

Typically, Beechwood does not dress Froshman on Friday night. So 36 upperclass would be a very good size A team. (or is this counting froshman?)
