August 21, 201016 yr Here in a couple of weeks, most of the east coast beaches will be pretty empty. I used to have a time share on the north end of Daytona Beach and after Labor Day, it would be close to deserted all day.
August 21, 201016 yr Author Funny that you mention Crescent Beach. Apparently they've had four shark attacks in the last month or so, most recently on Wednesday. We hadn't heard about the attack until late Wednesday. On Wednesday we noticed an increase of seagulls and pelicans on the beach, and apparently the pelicans are pretty rare. They were diving into the surf head first, and awesome sight. On Thursday while I took my daily run on the beach a local, likely hitting on my beautiful wife took a seat in my beach chair and talked to her for a while. He said that in twenty-five years he had never seen that type of activity. He said it was likely that they fishes were traveling North due to the sharks and the birds were having a field day. Nice picks, I'd love to live down there, it's laid back, not commercialized, and has so much history. The only negative is the drive, we left at 9am and arrived home a little after 10pm, two days shot by travel. I wish I still worked for Delta.
August 24, 201016 yr Crescent Beach used to be pretty popular when UF was in session - it's a straight shot east from Gainesville. I've been in the water a few times there with sharks, but they were maybe a couple hundred yards out.
August 25, 201016 yr Crescent Beach used to be pretty popular when UF was in session - it's a straight shot east from Gainesville. I've been in the water a few times there with sharks, but they were maybe a couple hundred yards out. I used to stay around Crescent Beach, ST Augustine and Jacksonville Beach when i would go to the Nascar races never seen any sharks around there but I did find sand spurs what a nightmare.
