I'm not talking about Pippen stat wise, I am talking Pippen perception wise. His stats don't matter when DWade is the man in the middle of those 3 when they walk onto the court and LeBron is off to the side of DWade. LeBron is playing in Wade County and that is my only beef with his 'Decision.' It isn't his team.

 

But that point isn't a good one b/c everyone will know who the best player on that team is. Do Larry Bird's titles not count b/c the Celtics had won them before? They key is to win multiple titles. If Wade is the guy who takes and makes the big shots, it won't matter who the best player is statistically for the first 42 minutes. Maybe that's not how it will play out, but that's the one thing that interests me most. The possibility that James is the "best" player, but Wade is the "go-to" guy...has that ever happened before? Stats are great, but clutch is where the legends are made.

Wow, didn't know Paul was being traded to a team with LeBron, DWade, Kobe, Jordan and Pippen. They're going to be a little guard heavy, but I like their chances this year.

You completely missed my point. I'm not criticizing Lebron, but to date in their careers, Wade has established himself more as a clutch performer. There's a possibility, IMO, that he's their best player, but Wade is "the man". In that scenario, Lebron's legacy takes a hit, regardless of how many titles they win. The ultimate debate will not be the one Lebron seemed destined for, greatest player ever, but rather who was the best or most valuable player in Miami, he or Wade.

I have a feeling LBJ has the ball in his hands at the end of games. I have no idea who will take the shots though. I do know that rather than forcing bad shots or passing to Donyell Marshall he'll either get great looks for himself or really good teammates. Other people seem to be a lot more concerned about this than he does.

I commend him for wanting to win and trying to make that happen. I do think he forfeited his potential claim to greatest ever status by doing so, fair or not.

 

I just think it's a possibly interesting situation where the best player isn't the go-to guy on a team that could possibly string together multiple titles. It's not a knock on anyone from me, just something that intrigues me...

I agree that it's interesting. I don't agree that he could have become the greatest ever (purely opinions by the way) by staying in Cleveland. His best teammate after 7 years of trying was Mo Williams. If he didn't go for 35/12/8 against good teams in the playoffs they were losing. He could have caught Malone, Barkley, and the rest of the greats as best player to never win one though.

 

It looks like Melo and possible either Paul or Parker will end up in NY. Bosh joining Wade would have been tough too. These players are realizing they can have the control. If Paul happens to go to NY or Orlando how was Cleveland supposed to win titles?

He's the first guy that had a real chance to eclipse Michael Jordan. The only way he could have done that, IMO, is to lead a team to multiple titles. It didn't have to be Cleveland. But, going to Miami where it's Wade's team, I don't think he'll ever reach that level now. That's all. Ultimately, it's just opinions as you say. But, Lebron was the guy who had the potential to set the new standard. His career arc interests me.

 

But, I think there's something to admire about a guy who is willing to share the spotlight to win. Kobe got criticized for wanting to be the alpha dog, Lebron gets ripped for the opposite. :idunno: I have no problem with either.
