What does Pendleton County need to do to improve in 2010/2011? What do they need to keep doing to be sucessful? Remember, please be constructive.

Pendleton County returns four seniors this year, all of whom were major Varsity contributors last year- Michael Walsh, Alex Valentine, Aaron Bonar and Asa Crozier.

 

Of course, Pendleton County returns stud freshman Mason Monroe, who looks to lead the team. He is a solid shooter, tremendous ballhandler, and is unflappable in pressure situations.

 

Juniors Gabe Antrobus and Bryan Woods will likely round out Pendleton County's rotation.

 

Pendleton County returns a lot of talent and experience from last year's surprise Regional Semifinal run. Look for them to compete heavily again in the 10th Region.

Can Pendleton on a given night beat Mason or Clark? Unfortunately at this moment for rest of the 10th region teams have to ask that question about themselves. In my opinion use those two succesful programs as a drving force and see what happens in March, looking forward to seeing Monroe this year. I'm a tenth region purist and I realize a strong Pendleton program makes the tenth region better as shown in 05 and 06.

Excellent question. And to answer it, no I don't think Pendleton has enough to beat either Mason or Clark next season. Not a knock on the Wildcats though, as I don't know if anyone in the 10th has a shot at either team on a given night next year.

It would take an excellent game, but I do believe Pendleton County has enough talent to knock off at least Mason County. As was the case the past few years, size will be Pendleton County's one major downfall.

Don't they have some younger kids, Soph. or Freshmen, that have some size. 6'3" or so? If so they could be very good district and region wide but not enough talent to compete on the state level.

Senior Aaron Bonar is 6'5, Junior Jared Rering is 6'3 and Sophomore Ethan Moore is 6'4.

If they can compete region wide, then they compete on the state level. The 10th will have two of the top ranked teams in the state next year.

I would agree to a a point but I don't think the 10th will field that level of team this year other than Clark Co. They had the best talent in the state last year and probably will this year but they'll have to produce to make me a believer. The Louisville and Lexington area regions will be very, very strong.

Yes, true but Mason Co was missing 3 of their top 6 players that game and all 3 of those players will be playing this year. I heard Ashland whipped Pendleton this summer and Mason destroyed Ashland. I know it's just summer ball but I don't think Pendleton has a shot at Mason this year. They're going to miss their two scorers from last year more than what they think. IMO

This is true, but Pendleton County's loss to Ashland was their third game of that day, and they were exhausted. When Pendleton County had fresh legs, they beat Ashland. Pendleton County was also missing one of their top returning players due to baseball.

Pendleton should be able to handle the Tomcats, I never was too impressed with Ashland from what I've seen end of last year. Interesting topic here, did the Gregg kid who plays for Ashland ever play with htis Pendleton County group? I believe his grandfather is Jimmy Gregg who was a great Wildcat player back in the 70's and from what I've been told he went to Pendleton many years ago-----that's what I was told not from any Pendleton County fans though. I will say this he would make Pendleton a major player in the tenth if he was in Falmouth!

He played on the PC 7th grade team a few years back and was clearly the best player on the floor. Apparently he transferred to Rose Hill after that year or possibly after 8th grade.

Corey was invited to play up with Pendleton County high school in the summer going into his 8th grade year. He apparently wasn't on the same page as the coaches, so he transferred to Rose Hill. He was physically a very different player back then. He had talent, but was heavier and a very immature. He seems to have outgrown this and developed into a very nice basketball player for the Tomcats though.

 

Who would have thought when he transferred Pendleton County would end up having the better team though?

That's very true about the Pendelton/Ashland situation, Buddy went up there thinking he was going to dominate but after running into the Elliott machine I wonder if he wishes he would have went elsewhere? I will state again that Gregg kid would make a huge impact in Falmouth and would go great along with Monroe.
