Alicia Miller Enquirer Player Of The Year

To a point but when your coach is gone back to another state or something weird like that it's hard to get something going. Looks like to me a lot of those schools dont put same care into picking a softball coach as they do for baseball ya know. Some look better because of their schedule being weaker.

I do not think that has anything to do with the lack of development of players in the leagues. Plus could he even coach the girl's during the summer? My understanding is no but I could be wrong. Obviously you are going to spin it to make it look bad but why don't you ask those who played for him and see how they liked him and what they learned? Have you done this yet? Have you asked the umpires the improvement in their team from the beginning of the year to the end? They lacked a strong pitcher. They had a 7th or 8th grader starting and even though she could hit spots there was not much power behind the pitch. This would have been a whole different team if Zabonick could have hit her spots at the beginning of the year and did not quit. But I guess it is easier to blame the coach.

Congrats to Alicia. I was kinda surprised that Jenalee Ginn from Walton Verona didn't win this award since she was the only Northern Kentucky player (in all three classes) to be named 1st Team All State.

The Miller girl was top dog on the Brossart team that was ranked 1 all year and Walton wasnt ya know. The allstate stuff people here say is jaded some because not everyone joins the association. I was told there were more coaches in the 8th thingee so her region did that. Ginn is more bat and just average pitcher

In their only head-to-head meeting, Walton beat Brossart 10-5. Ginn pitched 7 innings giving up 4 hits and 1 earned run and was 2 for 4 with 2 rbi's. Miller pitched 7 innings giving up 12 hits and 9 earned runs and was 1 for 3 with no rbi's. Looks like Ginn had more bat and a better arm on that day. Proof that rankings mean nothing.

Hmm see how you got your name madman. Obviously you wren't there or you would have seen certainly that Walton did not have 10 hits and Miller didn't give up 9 EARNED runs. It was an error fest to say the least. It wasn't Walton played well, it was Brossart couldn't field anything that game. One game however doesn't make an award such as Player of the Year. It is the body of work. If I remember Walton's coach had a few choice things to say to Ginn during that one.

I was there! You must not have watched the game very closely. Look at the offical box score on the All A Classic website. You will see that Walton had 3 errors and Brossart had 1. Additionally, you will see that Walton had 12 hits and Miller gave up 9 EARNED runs. How can you not field anything but yet you only have one error? The official scorer can't be that incompetent! In regards to the coach, good coaches always have a few choice things to say to their players during the game. Enquirer Player of the Year is a nice accomplishment and so is 1st Team All State. Both are nice players.

Peaches was even shocked what the Walton boy said to her. We'd have taken our kid home

Do not question the MadMan. He is full of "official" information.

Do you know what you're talking about? Totally different circumstances, I'm betting her parents never thought twice about it.

In the last Enquirer poll a total of 6 of the possible 28 Northern Kentucky coaches voted. Wouldn't exactly call one jaded and the other not. Both were good players on good "Northern Kentucky" teams.

Id say the ones who do vote though are the top teams there is a reason they are all good ya know

HOLY SMOKES that is not even a quarter of the coaches!!! Not a very good representation IMO.

They are good because they vote?

That must be the same reason Ginn was voted 1st Team All State. All the good coaches from the top teams in the 8th Region and the best coaches from the top teams throughout the state must have voted for her. Ya know, there is a reason they are all good.
