The CCH streak is a nice thing to talk about but , again, it simply talks about consistency vs excellence. It can also be an albatross if you play to that streak at the expense of developing players. IMO there are 3 games a year that are MUST wins in the 35th. The other 33 should be about getting your team ready and by "team" I mean getting everyone ready to contribute not just the first 10 or 12.

Did a little homework and found that of Beechwoods 20 wins only 4 were against teams with winning records. Those 4 wins were, 2 against NCC, 1 against Boone, and 1 against Carroll Co. Covcath had 12 of their 23 against teams with winning records. Each had 2 losses against teams with losing records. I only did these 2 schools because they are the ones being compared. I agree with Clyde that the 20 win seasons are over blown and should take a back seat to developing the rest of your team. I believe NCC and Holy Cross tend to do this more so than others.

 

The 20 wins may be overblown, but regional championships are not. I will give NCC a big nod as I always think they are well coached, but CCH + Beechwood have dominated the region lately by WINNING it. Holy Cross is not even in the same ballpark, as they have not even APPEARED in the Region tournament since 2003. They are usually overhypered and underperform. Now having said that, I think this year the Indians SHOULD at least make the Region with the talent they have. I am not saying they will win it it, but just get there.

I have no skin in this game, my only "family" relationship is that Coach Krumps cut my nephew, who I thought was a pretty decent ballplayer.

 

No one but a select few know what Coach Krumps actually said to Dylan so I will not argue that point. I also will not argue that Coach K is a good communicator with parents, that is not his Strong suit.

 

However, what I will argue is that Coach K doesn't care 1 little bit about a kids last name. He definitely has a certain mold in mind when it comes to the type of players he chooses. He also is very unbending when it comes to the attitude/work ethic he requires from his players. He sits kids and/or doesn't play kids for a variety of reasons, none has to do with their last name.

 

If a kids last name was the litmus test why did he play a sophomore on varsity to begin with? Did his last name change from the month before when he played the kid in a key tourn game?

Dylan has proven he is better off away from CCH and some of their fans. And I for one could care a less about what happen at CCH, but I do care about kids and he is just a kid.

There are too many people that lose site of this when posting on these boards. If it were not for the kids there may not be anything to talk about. People need to remember that some kids play sports in high school just for the fun of it. Some do not plan on playing at the next level. Don't be the one to ruin the fun. JMO
