Some validity to your post Clyde, although some of the schools you list above as weak would probably be offended and they also made up part of the wins for other top teams. The flip side of course is there are some nice wins over Boone County and NewCath twice. Plus some of those schools listed as questionable wins are much bigger schools than Beechwood. I agree with you that Beechwood gets more talent than the typical 1A school but it is still a nice accomplishment to get 20 wins 8 years in a row, especially with a team with no seniors. As to 20 wins being an accomplishment, our friends down Dixie Highway are very proud of their 20 win season streak, and rightfully so IMO. I don't know how many other schools have significant streaks of 20 win seasons so that might be interesting to check out for a point of comparison.

 

The CCH streak is a nice thing to talk about but , again, it simply talks about consistency vs excellence. It can also be an albatross if you play to that streak at the expense of developing players. IMO there are 3 games a year that are MUST wins in the 35th. The other 33 should be about getting your team ready and by "team" I mean getting everyone ready to contribute not just the first 10 or 12.

Meyerhoff did a great job this year with so many young kids, plus two who transfer because they would not even be playing if they stay at the school they were at.

As to 20 wins as being an accomplishment, besides the long streaks currently by Beechwood and CCH, only Boone County has won 20 for 3 seasons. No one else in region 9 has a streak going. Usually 4-6 teams get to 20 wins each year in region 9. Based on that, I think 20 wins is a worthy goal and an accomplishment to be proud of.

The "20 win" issue is overblown in my mind. You can play 36 games in a regular season plus at least one in the tourney. So , you could get your 20 and have 17 losses. Is that something to celebrate at top baseball schools?

 

I agree. At least for CCH, success should be measured by State Final appearances / wins or something a little higher with the boys they get. Coach K deserves his accolades if for nothing else, his kids do respect him and enjoy coming back to see him...that speaks volumes in my mind. But to say the best coach and everyone's far behind because or multiple 20 wins is "overblown".

I know not to believe everything I hear but I was there with his dad when it happen and heard everything that was said, been long time friends with the faimly. try not too miss many of the boy's games. played many years with his dad in little leauge and high school. :eyeonyou:

I heard Coach Krumps tell Dylan that the reason he was not playing was because he was beat out by the Freshman catcher and he needed to work on his skills to be able to make the team next year. Clyde feel free to pm me about this situation. This is definitely not the place for it!

Krumps doesn't talk to anyone and now he's telling a kid he's not going to make the team in front of others?

Marley, he was beat out by the frosh LAST YEAR. The frosh outworked him and out practiced him. Krumps simply challenged him and the young man decided to quit IN THE POST SEASON instead of proving he was the catcher of the future behind Mr. Maile. I promise you, he was supposed to be the catcher for CCH his junior and senior season.

Did a little homework and found that of Beechwoods 20 wins only 4 were against teams with winning records. Those 4 wins were, 2 against NCC, 1 against Boone, and 1 against Carroll Co. Covcath had 12 of their 23 against teams with winning records. Each had 2 losses against teams with losing records. I only did these 2 schools because they are the ones being compared. I agree with Clyde that the 20 win seasons are over blown and should take a back seat to developing the rest of your team. I believe NCC and Holy Cross tend to do this more so than others.
