The Good: Chris Gerwe! On senior day Chris throws a gem of a game limiting HHS to just 5 hits without walking a single batter.

Brett Stayton went 3/3 with two singles and a double and scored a run.

Finally when you only score two runs in a game, you need to play great "D' and the good was Brennan Schlagbaum who had 6 assists and 2 put outs while knocking down a ball hit right down the line, keeping a HHS runner from going from second to home on a single.

The Bad and Ugly: I seem to say this game after game! The base running! CovCath had a runner picked off first and had a runner thrown out at the plate in the first. Then in the second a runner is picked off of second base and even with those three runners getting out CovCath who also hit into two DP left 7 men on base.... Guys you just can't allow this to continue to happen.

Pee Wee's Place Offensive play of the game: CovCath bottom of the first and Reese gets on via a single but then get himself picked off first. One out, no one on. Warning hits a single but Klein goes deep but fly's out U-7. Two outs man on first. Stayton hits a single to move Warning to third and now CovCath has men on first and third and two outs. Lankheit then hits a routine fly ball to left field but the left fielder drops the ball and Warning scores the first CovCath run. Men on second and third and still two outs. Gerwe then hits a single to knock in Stayton for the second and final run of the inning and the game.

BAWAC Inc. Defensive play of the game: HHS top of the first Schultz gets on via a CI but Rizzo goes 5-3 for the first out. Man on second and one out. Liggett goes 5-3 also for the second out but then Dill hits a ball down the line that Schlagbaum can't pull in but he keeps the runner who moves from second to third from scoring. Then Gerwe K Hebel for the third out of the inning.

Grubers Grill stars of the game: Man when the season is over, I will miss those Mary Burgers!

Chris Gerwe for his work on the mound, Brett Stayton for his hitting and Brennan Schlagbaum for his "D" on the field. Put it all together and you have a CovCath win.

Murray is going to be a stud. For a Frosh to hold CovCath to 2 unearned runs is pretty special. Great job young man!!!1

Nice breaking ball. Decent fastball. Pretty good composure on the mound. He seemed to be in the "bend but don't break" mold.

CovCath hit him and sometimes hit him hard as they got 10 hits against the young man, however CovCath hurt themselves, as much as did Murray stop them from scoring. I too as Clyde said, was impressed with his composure and if not for the E-7 in the first, we still might be playing.

HHS had some chances to score but they like CovCath couldn't buy a hit when they needed it.

Liggett went 2/3 with two singles and Dill also went 2/3 both singles but after those two gentlemen, only a HHS pinch hitter, who couldn't have placed the ball himself any better down the third base line for a double than what he hit, was the only other hitter who reached base via a base hit!

Keep your heads up Birds, especially the seniors! I know you would have liked to have had this one to cap off your careers at Highlands, but you've worked hard, represented the school well & helped move the program forward. All the kids coming behind you will reap the benefits of what you've done the past few years. Congratulations on your upcoming graduations & best of luck in all your future endeavors, both athletic & academic!
