How is this different? Because they're looking for people who aren't here legally? It's no different, they are being asked for identification based on nothing more than their heritage.

 

I leave my ID at home from time to time when I go out if I know I'm not going to be driving or needing it for anything. What would happen to legal law abiding Mexican-American citizens if they did the same?

 

The same thing when you don't have proof of car insurance with you when you get stopped in you're car. You have to prove to the court you have insurance and all is dismissed. Pretty simple. If you don't want the hassle be sure to have an updated card with you and everything is fine.

It is really simple, if you are here legally, carry you're ID to prove it. You say you go out without yours sometimes, I never travel without mine. Most people take theirs with them when they leave home. It's not a big problem to have ID on you when you are away from home.

But it's racial profiling, i.e. discrimination, if a person is stopped and questioned solely because of the fact they look "Mexican". Basically what those who are in blind support of this law support is racial profiling.

The fact is, the problem with illegal Mexicans in this country is tremendous and the only way to find out if one is illegal is to ask them, is it not?

I think this is being blown way out of context. The local law will know most of the people in their territory they patrol day in and day out. If a bunch of new people show up all of sudden they will notice and check them out. Law abiding mexican americans will not be harrased over and over again as some think. If a new family moves into a neighborhood and they are legal, they will not be bothered.

I approve of the new law. Illegal is illegal. If Americans were sneaking into MX illegally and they passed the same law. How do you think they would be able to tell? Would they question the ones who looked American. YES.

I'm far from a legal scholar but I'm pretty sure I read that there is a legal difference between "probable cause" and "reasonable suspicion." If you have access to this info please share it.
