May 10, 201016 yr So, does the winner of Rampage-Rashad get the first shot at Rua's belt? Will Anderson Silva take a run at 205 now that Machida isn't the champion? I was thinking it would be the winner of the Rampage/Rashad fight, it makes sense being that Rua/Machida II and it is only like three weeks apart from each other. From a timing standpoint, this appears to be where its heading. As for Silva, he will have to get out of Dana's doghouse before getting a title shot at 205. White got pretty steamed after what happened in the Maia fight.
May 10, 201016 yr Well, I doubt he'll like the result of the next Silva fight unless Sonnen lives up to his word and actually goes after the Spider. They're going to have to figure out something for Anderson Silva. If he stays at 185 its not going to end well for Dana White, IMO. I don't even think the guy needs a belt. He's proven his greatness at this point...rather than see how many consecutive overmatched middleweights he can alternately destroy and toy with, I'd like them to push the guy and see just how far he can go. Can he beat the best at 205...at heavyweight? I don't know, but I'd like to find out.
May 10, 201016 yr Author Daley is gone too. Yeah, I posted that earlier- he deserves it. No place for that garbage in MMA or any combat sport, IMO.
May 10, 201016 yr Author So, does the winner of Rampage-Rashad get the first shot at Rua's belt? Will Anderson Silva take a run at 205 now that Machida isn't the champion? I do wonder if they will go Rua/ Dragon 3 only because triliogies are so prevelant in fighting. The most likely match up is the winner of Rampage/Evans; the most intriguing match up is to let Rua fight Silva.
May 10, 201016 yr Author Kimbo Slice has to be done in the UFC. I honestly think that he may want to go to the WWE or TNA; there will be serious money there for him. I don't think he can be a contender in MMA at heavyweight. Maybe he can try to cut to 205 and see if he can KO guys in that division. The more I think about this, the more intriguing it is to me; does anyone else think this is a possibility? Kimbo weighed in at 225 for the Mitirione fight. He would have a much better chance of preventing takedowns against a light heavyweight. He has taken a couple of heavyweights to the mat using throws, so he might be able to utilize some ground and pound against some smaller fighters. I think it is intriguing, but maybe I just don't want to see Kimbo go quite yet.
May 11, 201016 yr I think if Silva puts Sonnen away like he should, and cuts out all the excessive taunting, he could get the 205 title shot if he wanted it. I think Rua vs Rampage/Evans is next, then possibly Silva getting a shot at one of those three, more than likely whoever the champ is at the time.

By all accounts, he's a hard worker and he seems like a decent guy, but he just doesn't have it. He's been at this for a couple of years now at least and hasn't shown the kind of improvement necessary for me to think he'll ever be able to make a real splash with his ability...and at his age, time is not on his side. I like the guy and was hoping he could bring something to the UFC, but I don't see it happening. I don't think he'd fare any better at 205. I just don't see him beating the UFC's quality LHW's. He did have a nice takedown/slam on Mitrione I thought.

The most likely match up is the winner of Rampage/Evans; the most intriguing match up is to let Rua fight Silva. I think Machida will have to win at least one, and possibly more, fights to get another title shot. I don't think the UFC wants to have the same two guys fight each other three consecutive times. And, IMO, and most others, despite what the records say, Rua has beaten Machida twice. Another Machida/Rua fight is not something I'm interested in seeing. I don't care if it ever happens. The best potential fight the UFC has is Silva vs. Shogun. They should make that happen. There are two fights in MMA that I'd love to see...Anderson Silva against the 205 pound champion, who happens to be Shogun right now. And, I think Shogun, now that he's healthy, is probably the best guy in the division and offers a great stylistic matchup with Silva. The other is Brock Lesnar vs. Fedor. That one isn't happening.

The major problem I have with the UFC is rankings, title shots, etc. Winner of Rampage/Rashad should get the title shot......sadly I don't think either of us will get what we want, rumor is Randy is next up for Shogun.........................

I would much rather see Silva or Rampage/Rashad winner get Shogun. I'm not interested in seeing Shogun v. Couture at all.

Agreed on the rankings thing. I'm always interested in seeing Couture fight, especially as the underdog when he seems to bring his best. I can't say that I believe Couture is the most deserving opponent right now, nor that he's the guy I most want to see fight Shogun. But, at the same time, that's a fight I'd look forward to watching. Anyone but Machida is fine with me...

Isnt his next fight supposed to be James Toney?
May 12, 201016 yr I don't think its going to be Couture getting the first crack at Shogun. I mean how can you go from fighting Mark Coleman to fighting for the belt? That's basically like giving us a fight with two aging legends, pretty much signaling the tail end of each others careers, but then come back and give one another shot at a title. I just don't get that logic. Now if Randy went and beat somebody like a Rampage, Evans, Machida, then I could see him getting a shot, but I am not seeing it coming off the Coleman bout. One thing about it though, if given the shot you can never count "The Natural" out, but I feel he doesn't get the shot, or deserve it at this point in time. Again, the timing would make you think that the winner of Rampage/Evans will be the next matchup. With an eye on the Silva situation, if he gets back into Dana's good graces, he could end up getting a shot at the 205 belt late in the year or early next year.
May 13, 201016 yr Yes Couture has Toney next. Shogun is on record right after the Machida fight saying fighting Couture is a dream fight for him. As for Couture getting the fight dolamite, he got a title shot after coming out of retirement and the UFC puts fights together to sale tickets and PPV's, they care nothing about rankings or "whats fair"
