April 9, 201016 yr According to some theories here, you can improve your circumstances by making less money and paying fewer taxes.:idunno: My son did. He got back more than he paid in last year due to the Earned Income Tax Credit. And I know that noone can blame Obama for that one, ... I believe Reagan signed that during his administration. While I was partially happy for my son, a big part of me didn't like it.
April 9, 201016 yr Well we pay out big time. My wife retired from the State and now works for the County. We have twice added to what is taken out of both of her checks. I work in Manufacturing as a Supervisor. We paid totally for tuition for my youngest son's last 2 years of College, and did so gladly. But now we cannot claim him because after graduation in May he made over $4,000 for 09. We will have to pay over $2700 again. Seems as though the middle class that is trying to do it right get's no breaks. So yea, I don't like it.

April 9, 201016 yr As to the thread, I certainly don't blame the people paying no tax. I would do the same if the law were set up to favor my situation.
April 9, 201016 yr When you say "we owe" do you mean your entire tax bills for the year were those amounts or that you had to send in that amount in addition to withholding and/or estimated amounts paid in during the year? The additional that we have to send in . Why?
April 9, 201016 yr I find that I cannot bring myself to be envious of someone else's fortunte circumstances . I'll just try to improve mine . Yeah, their fortunate circumstance is someone else is paying their taxes for them... Everyone should have to pay a little something. Near 50% paying nothing is absurd, of course, putting the burden on a specific group is how the Dems like it.
April 9, 201016 yr  Yeah, their fortunate circumstance is someone else is paying their taxes for them... Everyone should have to pay a little something. Near 50% paying nothing is absurd, of course, putting the burden on a specific group is how the Dems like it. Sounds like you have had to pay income taxes this year
April 9, 201016 yr The additional that we have to send in . Why? Just couldn't tell from how you phrased it.
April 9, 201016 yr Sounds like you have had to pay income taxes this year I pay into it every year. Sometimes I pay in too much and get a return, sometimes I don't pay enough and have to pay a little additional. This year I pretty much broke even. I'm just not for redistribution of income; it's getting more and more out of hand. Our tax system will not continue to support it's self if this persists. With the debt problem reaching the heights it has, the ‘usual fixes’ that Congress applies won’t continue to work. It’s time to create a mechanism so tax rates go up or down for everyone, not just a select group. I honestly believe that such a system will create circumstances where spending programs will be given the scrutiny they deserve.
