Do all Christians have the same services? I was raised Catholic and I gave up on that faith years ago. Now that the Pope is being investigated by the cops I'm glad I did. I still wonder though does everyone do this?

 

The only 'person' who really truly matters in a Christian religon is Jesus. I have been Catholic my entire life and am very proud of my faith. My wife was raised Baptist and remained that way until several years ago when she decided to convert on her own. I never asked her to as that is her individual choice.

 

As far as Easter services, many other Christian faiths have various services around Easter. I normally attend the Good Friday service and Easter Sunday mass.

I just completed the RCIA program and was welcomed into the church on Holy Saturday. I attended Chrism Mass at the Cathedral on Tuesday, Holy Thursday, and Easter Vigil on Saturday night. I really enjoyed each of them and their unique qualities. It was a great experience. I will more than likely do the same next year and attend Thursday and Saturday.

I haven't been to a Holy Thursday or Good Friday service since I was a good bit younger. Growing up across the street from my family's parish along with my three brothers meant one phonecall from the sacristan would usually get her at least two servers...so I served more weddings, funerals, 40 hours services, Benedictions, mindnight masses, Easter Vigils, Holy Thursday masses, and Good Friday Services than I think I could count any more. Unfortunately, my job pretty efficiently prevents me from making it to any church services that occur during anything close to work hours. I always really liked the Good Friday Passion Service at Blessed Sacrament where I grew up.

 

One tradition that I have managed to continue every single year since I was 16 is the Cincinnati tradition of praying the steps at the Immaculata Church in Mt. Adams. I go every year at 12:00am on Good Friday. It usually makes for a long day at work on Friday, but it's a great devotion to get to share with so many fellow Catholics.

I photographed this about a decade ago and found it very moving. I would like to get back up there some year, with better equipment than the old manual 35mm I had (and still have) back then.
