The Kentucky HS Coaches Association has decided to move the 3rd annual "Best of the Bluegrass" East vs West All Star Football Classic to Sunday afternoon December 12, 2010. The exact time and place have not been finalized.

 

Unfortunately the graduating seniors in the class of 2010 will not have the opportunity to participate in Kentucky's only state wide game. It was not financially feasable to put two games together in one year, therefore, the December date was chosen.

 

More information about the game will be sent out in early fall...nominations, selection etc.

 

Those players who had paid their game fee have been notified and money has been returned.

 

Coaches of players please pass this information along to your players.

 

Coaches, thank you for your continued support and help with the game. We feel that playing the game in December will enhance the players chosen to participate, players/coaches are still in football "mode" and more scholarship opportunities will be available. We also feel that having the game after the state finals will increase not only player participation but our crowds will be better and sponsorhip increased.

So basically they are skipping this summer's game then playing next years game right after the football season instead of waiting until summer, right?

Yep. That's the way I understand it. Is this game on it's way out or what? They wouldn't move it if they were doing well. And it looks dangerously close to them trying to compete with the Border Bowl.

 

Wasn't the whole reason they did away with the KY/TN game because Tennessee wanted it played after the season and Kentucky wanted it to stay in the summer?

Greater Louisville Coaches Association also has their all-star game in December. This bites for those hard working seniors who thought they were going to get the opportunity. What a shame for those kids. Perhaps we need to see if TN or IN or another border state wants to get it on again!

The Border Bowl was a great opportunity for all of the kids but having this game played in January prevented all D1 and only D2 Coaches from the same state as the game as played in from watching the game in person. NCAA rules do not allow any coaches from watching an "All-Star game in person during this years time period.

 

If this December 12 2010 game holds true it looks like all college coaches could attend.

Almost every state has their All-Star immediately following the season. It's just taken Kentucky this long to get on board. It'll be a big issue with a lot of basketball coaches though because those who participate will have to practice (football) during that week and miss a lot of basketball practice.

Sucks for the kids that were suppose to play this year!!!!!!! Most had already sent in their money to play in it. Sounds like a real stupid time to make a decsion like this?????

Got our check back in the mail. It was disappointing to say the least. If they were going to do this they should have made the decision before the kids were selected and sent invitations.

Kind of off the subject but I was wondering why you did not complain about sending money to the East/West All Star game but complained mightyly about the payment to the Border Bowl. 200 verses 300???? Funny and I don't mean HAHA.

 

I think the teams that were selected should at the very least be recognized in some way, given jerseys and rings or something along those lines, maybe a banquet?

It's necessary to get the game played when it should be. Don't know if it could be helped.

That was always the company line.

If that is the case then why wasn't it done two years ago to keep the KY/TN game going. Why all of a sudden is it "necessary to get the game played when it should be"?

My complaint was that we were never told upfront of the fee with the Border Bowl . . . we were sent the paper work and given about 2 weeks to come up with the money. We got this invite 6 months before the game and had 3 months to come up with a lesser fee. (The East West was a $200 fee by the way) How is that funny?
