Who is the best freshman still playing right now? Im going with Dominique Hawkins for Madison Central. He pretty much led his team all season and dominated to pull a up set over Madison Southern. Oh yea by the way, he had a great dunk in the fourth quarter.

There are two very good freshmen still playing in the 10th. Mason Monroe from Pendleton and Omar Prewitt from Montgomery. They play each other on Friday night.

Daryl Hicks of Shelby Co and Kristian Morgan of Gallatin Co. Morgan led the Wildcats with 19 points against Walton Verona in the 1st round of regional play last night. I haven't seen Hicks play yet but will see him tonight at the 8th region tournaments.

As of today I would say Mason Monroe in the 10th Region. He had 14 pts and 6 rebounds last night and will try and help his team get past Mason Co tonight.

Hicks of shelby county is by far the best freshman in the state... still playing or not! He already has a full ride offer from IU. He had 21 and 8 against a scrappy north oldham team!

These two young men are both impressive, especially Prewitt from Montgomery. The teams leading scorer despite getting extra attention each night from their opponents. Showed the other night how impressive he can be, scoring 18 of the teams 22 first half points, finishing with 28 for the night.

He finished the season:

17 pts per game

45% FG

38.5 3PT%

76.6 FT%

4.5 Rebs/game

26 blocked shots

48 steals.

Very good season that commanded the respect of every coach that played against him this season.

mcraycraft these are impressive stats for Omar!

Mason Monroe's would be similar except for blocks.

Haven't seen the final stats yet.

I think Monroe averaged around 12-13 points a game.

But the offense wasn't centered around Monroe either although he drew alot of the opposing coaches and teams focus also.

As an 8th grader starting varsity last year Monroe shot 51.75% from the field, 42.5% from three and 72.2 % from charity stripe. I am curious to see what his frosh stats are this year.

No doubt about it these two will be fun to watch in the 10th for the next three years!!

Congradulation to both Sanders and Monroe on their freshman season! Not an easy task to run point for teams that start mostly seniors. Being a good point guard its not always about scoring. It's about taking care of the ball, distributing the ball where it needs to be, and keeping all your teammates involved. I think each have done this very well! It takes alot of courage and composure to handle the ball 80 to 90% of the time a lot of preasure on both of these young men. Best of luck in the future!
