Cant see Al Holland leaving Hazard. Bentley would be a good fit for Estill.

Played at EKU and has been at PCC for the last 2 the year before that at Bell county and the year before that at Hazard.

Heard that an assistant from South Laurel got the first offer at Estill job first but that he ended up taking another job because there were more talent coming up, was his reasoning. I had heard it was Jackson Co, is the Jackson Co Coaching job open?

The community support at Estill County has always seemed pretty strong for every sport. Their baseball and softball teams have won multiple regional titles of late, and their football program (and the unique offense they run) is widely revered among coaches across Kentucky.

 

Estill has never been a big basketball power partly because they spent years in the 10th Region competing with Mason, Clark, Montgomery, Harrison, etc. The recent move to the 14th Region has likely been a blessing for them as there isn't nearly as many obstacles standing in the way of a championship. I don't know what the talent is like in Irvine right now, but I've thought for a few years now that Estill County was one good coaching hire away from being a 14th Region basketball power. Perhaps this will be that hire.

Just heard that all the previous stuff mentioned about Honeycutt was false info and that he is still interested and hasn't been offered the job as of Thursday last week. He is a great coach wth a lot of experience and would do a great job if given the job. But I myself don't see him leaving his home where his father lives also, but could be wrong. Now Parks I'm sure is looking to get out of Pippa Passes and June B. He took that job probably to just get some head coaching experience and he done a good job while their, but don't think that the basketball program will last over their, so I'm sure he will be applying everywhere and anywhere to get out of their soon. Don't really know anything about the guy from Tates Creek. I'm sure a great guy and has been under some great coaches, so he should know his stuff. Very tough decision for the staff and I'm sure they will pick the person with the right fit for them.

Could someone confirm this.

The other coaches involved were notified yesterday via e'mail that they were not chosen for the job. The let Jon know yesterday afternoon that he will be hired. Now CONFIRMED.
