District highlights: Clark County boys win by 61 points in 40th

 

Clark County's starters played for only one quarter Tuesday night.

Turns out that's more than the Cardinals needed.

 

The state's seventh-ranked team and 10th Region favorite kicked off the post-season on its home court with a 108-47 victory over Bourbon County in the 40th District Tournament.

 

Junior forward Travis Purvis had the best stat line with 20 points and 10 rebounds, but this was a total team effort for the Cardinals.

 

Junior forward Vinny Zollo had all of his 12 points and 12 rebounds in the first quarter, when Clark County jumped out to a 38-8 lead. The Cards led 64-24 by halftime.

In all, 12 Cardinals scored, and four of those reached double figures.

Clark is a far superior team this year in regards to Bourbon, but how sad is it this Bourbon program has fallen. Somewhere Russ Day has to be shaking his head at a program he built into a state powerhouse has just went off the cliff!

Clark Co. scored 38 points in the first quarter and 2 players had 22 rebounds in the first quarter between them, WOW!

Clark ran subs in and out for starters in the second quarter. Starters probably played a total of 12-13 minutes.

Don't matter either way, but some of those stats in 8 minutes is very impressive!

They had about 12 minutes. Bourbon is very small.
