Agreed! I said this in another thread on Rivals. Bishop will have some pretty good pitching with Greis coming back. Also junior Jake Ollier will be in the rotation this year. And Calvary Christian I think could be anybody in there and alot of teams in their region. They will have Andrew Moran, Chris Looy, David Helton and Darin Bray. They have been playing summer select/ travel baseball together since they were like 10. They have seen very good pitching in the summer playing with the NKY Knights and I look for them to all have great years for Calvary.

Those three and I'm thinking Kincaid, Jehn, and I believe the younger Ritter boy pitches also.

 

 

Kincaid was a senior last year. And was the only lefty pitcher on the team but I think Tyler Johnson will fill his shoes very nicely. :jump::jump:

I think Campbell Co has a chance to be grouped with the top 4. They have a strong group returning.

There isn't a single dominant pitcher in the region that would separate or carry a team. At the same time, they all have some question marks.

I think Ryle, Boone, and Conner will/should have substantially more hitting than CCH and the others. Pitching may be the same with all of them - except Dixie, who is head and shoulders above everyone else - but I think, at least intitially, CCH needs to prove something hitting. They lost a lot, probably as much as any single team has lost in one off-season in quite a while. As well as losing 3 main pitchers.

CCH lost a ton and they have very little varsity experience returning at the plate. I think they are a "wait and see" team, to see how their hitting goes. I don't anticipate a high scoring offense (they have some big shoes to fill).

I would agree with this. Certainly not to say they can't or won't be one of the better teams, but when you lose as much talent as they have and are going to be relying on as many kids as they will who have minimal/no varsity time, I think it's fair to make them prove themselves first. I am very familiar with some of the pitchers they will be relying on and they are quality kids/players. But the fact of the matter is that they were not given much varsity time last year. So at least initially, it's probably reasonable to make them (CCH) prove themselves a tad.

Regarding CCH; So you're suggesting that replacing Mr. Baseball plus 4 other college-bound players will be difficult, pa-shaw. No doubt they have a lot of runs and innings to replace. They do have some returning starters that had a lot of success (Siemer,Martin);some that got a lot of PT and did well (Schlegbaum, Stayton); a lot of depth and talent that had to sit behind those studs;plus the re-emergence of a healthy Klein, who was very good starting as a soph (.400 BA, 5-0 pitching). They have a couple positions that are up for grabs, but some strong underclassmen that I suspect will win the job, and eventually do very well. I believe the pitching (Warning, Gerwe,Klein, Shumate, Schlegbaum) should be very solid and keep them in every game.

As for Ryle, I am anticipating this being one of their better hitting teams in past years. They have some proven sticks returning in 5 starting positions. I am also of the belief that Peace will be a very strong addition to the lineup this year. And some solid JV bats moving up, but just about every other team can legitimately claim that at this point, so I won't base anything on that. But frankly, I'll put Ryle's hitting up against any team in the 9th. Pitching we'll have to wait and see. They have some proven throwers returning and, like most everyone else, some kids that will need to prove themselves on the varsity level. But certainly plenty of reason at this point to think pitching won't be an issue. Maybe not the strength of the team, but not a weakness. Actually, if there is one issue that is a question mark at this point, it could be their defense. There are a couple of spots in which kids need to prove - or improve - themselves defensively.

Who will be playin short stop for Ryle this year? You could make a very good case for Clarkson at short stop at any school in NKY.

It's Clarkson's job to lose, no question. And that's not to imply that I think he'll lose it.

 

I think Ryle is going to be very strong defensively (and offensively, for that matter) up the middle - C, 2B, SS, and CF.
