Mark this down because im calling it. Brandon Hatton will be the leading scorer in the 9th 3 out of his 4 years in high school.

 

Can anyone confirm? I heard that Hatton will be too old to compete as a Senior in high school.

I disagree. Hatton is good but put a bigger, more athletic guard on him and he struggles.

 

Jake Thelen will lead the area in ppg next year. He'll average over 20 ppg.

Hatton held to 5 points the last 2 1/2 quarters.

Not true as far as I know. Like many, he's one year older.

Coach L's strategy seemed to be "anybody but Hatton." Often times, CCH ran an extra defender at him near half court to force him to give up the ball. I also saw Alex C putting the "Pangallo D" on Hatton late as well. Nice sign of respect for an 8th grader.

CovCath 4/10 from the line in the 4th quarter and three of those misses the front end of 1 and 1, and Dixie 3/14 from inside the arc in the 4th quarter.

Also, Hatton's bucket with 4 minutes to go in the 2nd was Dixie's last lead 18-16.

Hatton is 14 years old. When he is a senior he will not be 19 until basketball season is over, in fact he will not be nineteen until about three weeks before graduation. This is coming from his dad who I talk to on a frequent occasion.

Dixie played passive (relatively speaking) defensively in the first half. It was not the same style of defense that they played against Holmes.

I agree Clyde. I was somewhat dissapointed with Dixie. They didn't seem to have any spark last night. Good win for Cov Cath.

I didnt say Hatton would lead NKY in ppg next year. I said he'd lead NKY in ppg 3 out of his 4 years. It doesnt need to be next year he leads in scoring. As long as he does his sophomore, junior and senior season then im correct :thumb:
