David Henley will have his work cut out for him with this group. If Coston and Peterson stick with football and Englemon rolls out with his IPOD nightly I cant imagine they will formulate much in the future. However, there always is that chance they could get some transfers.

Thus my comment of the young men sitting on the bench. Didn't want to single out one kid but gee and the Holmes Coach doesn't say a word to him that I saw during the game.

 

Indeed strange, but then again maybe he didn't know, but we all saw it, and to be honest, it's the first time I have seen something like this from a player sitting on the bench during a game!

I am quite sure he plays on Saturday vs. Highlands.

 

Not that it matters because the Birds have beaten the Dogs with their full lineup 2 weeks ago and are well prepared for their rematch on Saturday. Im just saying if you have a kid on the bench suspended for whatever reason and he does something like that, well If I was the coach.....

#41 Couch is a big boy (football body but somewhat tall) but when he got into quick foul trouble, the Holmes Coach brought in #35 Scruggs who is football big but not tall, fullback type big.

Coach Henley definetly wouldn't tolerate something like that. I have a feeling he'll get a rude awakening next year when Wimzie and Henley are running the show if he tries something like that.

 

As far as Peterson and Coston go. While both are very good athletes on the gridiron, they will likely stick with basketball throughout as well. Coach Lickert encourages kids to play other sports if they're good enough and I have a feeling Peterson, with his size, will have options on the hardwood as well. The freshman class could end up being the next big group to come through Holmes and could make a lot of noise in the region their senior year:

 

6'4 Peterson, 6'2 Coston, 6'2 Englemon, 6'2 Palmer, 6'1 McClendon

 

Obviously those kids are going to get bigger and stronger. Add currnet 8th grader Jaylen Avery as a junior and the talented 7th grade class as sophomores and that group will be tough to beat as long as they stay together.

 

A lot could happen in the next 4 years though so I guess we'll just wait and see.

Peterson will need to learn to go left atleast once in the next four years. Easy player to scout but does post well on that right side. I don't know where you are getting those heights Walter but I think your off a little. Coston and Palmer may be 6' if they are lucky. Peterson and Englemon are my size as I have stood next to them at 6'2.

 

Could this be an athletic class? Yes it could, especially if you put McClendon in there. I just don't see much desire out there like I have seen with many past Holmes teams. You are right though, Wimzie will whip all of them into shape if they make it to next year.

This St Henry team has a solid foundation. Hils is a very good point guard. He will fit into Faust system and be a solid PG.

 

From what I hear the Carr kid. The big boy. He hasn't played much basketball. He's come a long way under Coach Goetz this year.

 

Kuebbing and Toebertge both have lots to work on. But both are atheltic. Kuebbing has a good shot and Toebertge is very good driving to the basket.

 

Add Meiman to this group and they have a solid Freshman class.
