Ya but the coach is the problem.

Is he Swedish?

Don't know. But he can't coach. Way to much talent in the last 6 years not have not won anything. I quess that is why he is done coaching after this year if the rumors are right.

Hasn't he made it to Rupp 3 or 4 times and atleast 2 of those times to Saturday morning? Not saying anything about coaching ability or taking any sides, but you have to be able to coach a little bit to make it that far. Talent alone will not make it that far.

Come watch and you will see that he can't coach. When we had AJ his senior year against J-Town last shot of the game and a sophmore takes the shot as AJ is at the top of the circle watching in shock.

They lost to J-Town in OT, J-town went on to win the state.... Two years ago they were beat on Saturday morning to Mason County which won it all. Seems like saying he can't coach is a little stretch.

Maybe the sophomore took the shot even though it wasn't planned that way. That has been known to happen on occasion.

Could the new high school have anything to do with it?

Sounds like someone has an ax to grind. His teams have made it to Rupp enough for me to believe that he can, indeed, coach.

Thanks TB&G. I thought I airmailed the whole crowd.

It's amazing to see people posting that Mike Clark can't coach. Here's the raw numbers:

8th season

160 wins 76 losses .678 winning percentage

It should be noted that he was 27-29 his first two seasons, when Shelby had arguably the least talent it has had in decades. Since then, since he's had "his" program firmly in place, he's 143-47 (.753) And keep in mind that Shelby County almost always plays one of the toughest schedules in the state, against teams such as Trinity, Bullitt East, Anderson County, GRC, Scott County, etc., etc.

In his previous 7 seasons, he's won over 20 games four times and over 30 once. This year's team (17-4) is almost certain to become his fifth 20 win team.

In the last four years, he's won two region titles and been runners-up once (last year), and if the Rockets hit some late FTs last year, Shelby almost certainly upsets Anderson in last year's final, and we'd be discussing the coach who had won 3 of the last 4 region titles(!)

Granted, winning sometimes happens in spite of the coach - but I don't think this is the case here. I've seen lots of Shelby's games over the years - and every 8th Region tournament game involving Clark's teams....they've sometimes been beaten, but rarely out-coached.
