HHSDad
They have had a middle school team for the past two years. I'm not sure if they are planning on wrestling varsity yet.
oldschoolwrestler
Newport has a limited varsity schedule this year. The Northern Ky Jamboree will be on Nov 3rd at Holmes this year. All of the Northern Ky teams will be there including Newport.

HHSDad
Gotta start somewhere Starting with a middle school or elementary program is the way to do it. It's hard to recruit wrestlers without a feeder program. If you can build up a team with kids who have wrestled middle school or younger, you're more likely to have a successful varsity squad which in turn encourages kids to wrestle in the feeder progams. The Head Director
When Newport had Varsity teams back in the 70's and the early 80's they were always competative, some of the wrestling competitors were Ray Bradford, John Davis, Mike and Howie Alford, and Kenny Whitacre, just to name a few that I can remember. Its great to see it all start up again.

They told you right, with a new pogram they turned out at least 5 state qualifiers with most of them 7th graders Cody short, Justin Roberts, Nathan Ilg I don't know what weight class these guys will be in this year but they are a few to watch this year.
