We have the fans at the games! Still a good social event in our town and for the Title iX haters the girls and boys games both draw big crowds.

However, what keeps a lot of kids at home ( mine sometimes too) is the amount of homework. 3-4 hours of home work a night will prompt many kids to make a decision on sitting up late and going to the game or just skipping the game.

It is very expensive to follow the teams.

Do you think the decline of the basketball program has anything to do with this?

One factor that I feel is especially relevant, yet haven't seen commented on yet is the success of the Kentucky and Louisville basketball programs lately. Would you rather pay $20 for a family of four (plus whatever you pay at the concession, gas to the game, etc.) when your school plays a fringe game that you can't get excited about, or would you rather stay home and watch the college state teams on Big Monday or Super Tuesday? With all the excitement around UK basketball this year, it seems like many are choosing the latter.

The spirit starts at the school. Where are the pep rallies? Where are the bands at ball games? Where is the promotion of the games? What incentive do the students have to attend ball games? Can I buy my ticket at school for a reduced price? Why not market school sports? I could go on and on. This is a very sore subject for me.
