1 bad season does not a career make!

I agree that a bad season can happen.

 

This is a lot worse than a bad season. Madison Central has a lot of tradition and Coach Turner had been at the school and had a moderate amount of success.

 

How does this school go 0-9? There is more to this than I know. Maybe someone can shine some light on what caused this program to tank last season.

This Juniors who will be seniors next year have just not been very talented over there years in high school. They had a very poor freshman team a few years ago, in 2008 Central had a lot of Seniors on the team and they graduated and this years class was stepping in. Most people knew this would be a down year for Central.

 

Whatever my 2 cents are worth I would agree Kenny Turner would be the favorite. There are some Richmond people with administrative power at Bryan Station.

Power + incompetence = No support for Coach Lucas (Did wonders in turning around Station's Football program and is now at Manual)

I was made aware of the fact that the 3 final candidates were presented and recommended to the principal a week ago today. What is she waiting on? Anyone heard any names or news about this job?

I heard that Peoples made a recommendation to the Superintendent and he turned it down.

Have you followed Turner while at Madison Central? He had one bad season last year and everyone around the program knew it was coming....the Jr. and Sr. classes are awful in regards to athletes. The basketball team is terrible this year too. Excluding 2009, his record at MC was 51-22 with several playoff wins and he helped over 20 student athletes continue playing football in college. Personally, I think he will do a great job at Bryan Station and continue to build on what Oliver Lucas started.

Like I said....this job was decided the minute Coach Lucas turned in his resignation.

Look at the records before he got there and Station had athletes then too. I say Coach Lucas left the program in much better shape than it was when he got there. 2 wins, then 4 wins, then 6 wins, and then 9 wins this year. That seems like steady improvement. The year you speak of where he went 6-5 Bryan Station had eventual state champ Highlands on the ropes. I think Lucas did a quality job.

If Coach Turner is the choice I want to wish him the best of luck. I know he is great person and coach and will do a good job a Bryan Station. I have always believed there is a lot of talent at BS and it needs a coach that will teach the kids to play hard and play to win. I know also that 6A is tough and it is hard to compete with the other schools on the schedule. Go with the kids that really want to dedicate themselves and forget some of the so called athletes that are out there for themselves.

Lucas did a good job of restoring BS to respectablity. But to blast Kenny Turner by saying Station will return back to what they were before Lucas is a little ridiculous. Turner's tenure at Madison Central was every bit as successful as Lucas' 4 years at Station. Who did you want to get the job?

Give the man a chance, he hasn't even held a weight session or a practice yet. I'm sure all the coaches interviewed did the best they could, if you don't like it and you are a parent, go the admin. Good Luck to Coach Turner, hopefully he can get a staff together and get up and running soon, it has been over 2 months since Coach Lucas resigned and spring ball is coming up quick. BS is coming off back 2 back winning seasons for the first time in over a decade, Hopefully they can keep the momentum going this year.

Yep the two Fayette schools who just hired coaches have a great history to caving into parental demands, you could very well get your way!
