Your team beat Holmes by 44 and Ludlow by almost 50. Looking at the boxscore I see your team played about the same amount of people that Ryle did so should I make the same assumption about your program?

It seems that you would like to assume the role of "Player Advocate" for the Ryle kids.

From checking scores you must be speaking of NCC as "your team" in replying to Blue Pride. I can't find a box score on their game with Holmes, but I suspect I'd find the same thing I see in their box against Ludlow. In that game NetCath ran out to a big first quarter lead and then played everybody. Fourteen players scored for NCC in the game and it appears the starters accounted for no more than 30 of the 68 points they scored.

 

Sometimes it is difficult to keep the score down because of differences in talent (and other factors can come in to play as well). Playing the reserves a lot is a way to help when that imbalance occurs.

As an outsider looking in, I don't see where anyone has tried to discredit any high school kid. I think the question is being asked of the coaches. Last time I checked the players weren't able to check themselves in and out of a game, so subbing in the reserves would be the coaches decision.

No question. If you would read closely, those points are in my entry. It is about the coaches. However, if you haven't read any entries about Ryle in the past, you wouldn't know how critical some contributors have been about the players. Fortunately, that is not the case here and I commend the contributors for that. Again, if you feel strongly about a coach's decisions, go to them personally. Let's just make sure we keep it positive about the players from all schools. They deserve it.

Looks like the newpaper was doing a story about Ryle during this game........maybe that had something to do with their over zealous offensive attack during the Cooper game. Action pictures etc.

 

The program has come a long way as they used to be the ones on the take side of those bad beats. Let's hope everyone learns from this and moves on.

Agree completely. Time to move on and quit beating this subject to death. There is still about 1/2 of a season to play and alot of big games left. Good luck to all the teams.

Let's be clear about what we are talking about.

 

No one has been "critical" of a Ryle player.

 

The conversation has focused on the lessons these players are being taught about "Sportsmanship".

 

There has also been concern for those players left sitting on the bench when their team has a 30+ point lead after 3 quarters.

 

Did they deserve this?

 

Did the Cooper kids deserve to be humiliated?

 

None of the Ryle supporters have addressed these issues.

I also realize that the "supporters" will not want to address these issues.

 

So, I'll just let it go for now.

Wow! I'm glad to know that Ryle is the only team in local High School sports to win by such a wide margin. If you are left in the game and you don't give your all, then , shame on you. I never hear all of this commotion when the Highlands football team , or any other dominant football program is destroying their opponents 56-0, 71-6, 65-0, etc., or is it just the Lady Raiders who are the "Evil Empire"? The fact is, Cooper and Ryle played hard the entire game and neither team has anything to be ashamed of. These scores happen in all of High School sports from time to time. There was a Florida boy's basketball who scored 100 points by halftime and I heard less griping than I hear on here.

The detractors need to chalk it up as another game and move on. I know Ryle has, and rightly so.

At the end of the 3rd quarter, Ryle was up 52 to 20.

 

Ryle went on to score 28 points in the 4th quarter.

You point out the fact that 2 of the 80 points came from a "reserve" player.

 

Assuming these 2 points came in the 4th quarter, when the game was well in hand, then who scored the other 26 points in the 4th quarter?

 

Ryles starters were either right at their average or a little above. Crittendon got her average and sat out more than any other game this year. Oliverio, Cheeseman, Jump, and Johnson were a few points each above their average but nothing earth shattering. What's the fuss? Does Ryle High School really instill this much dislike in the Northern Ky. area? It was a good effort against a District rival and nothing more.:idunno:
