Most times a game that ends up with a score like this is passed on and not posted. I've seen high school baseball scores that end up 25-5 before the mercy rule comes into play and the coach who calls in the score will do so as a 11-1 final to show sportsmanship. Marion Co. 73 Washington Co. 27

Marion Co. 77 Casey Co. 39

Marion Co. 70 Green Co. 27

Marion Co. 73 Ryle 47

 

I bet Marion Co. had more than one of there top 7 score. When you do things like this they tend to come back and bite you. I am not in the know on Ryle Girls B-ball when is the last time they went to the region? Do they beat teams like this on a regular basis? Who are the many D-1 prospects? With this many good players I would think that Ryle should be a contender for the State Title are they?

Ryle did, as well. They played the starters as a unit for less than a half. Ryle is just a young team striving for success just like a lot of teams. They have played one of the toughest schedules in the area and seem to be holding their own. They have a long way to go before their name can be listed as State contenders. As far as legitimate D-1 prospects their is Sophomore, Jenna Crittendon. She has at least a dozen, or more schools seriously looking at her. Ole Miss, Middle Tennessee, Maryland, UK, Louisville, Dayton, Marquette, Xavier... Abby Jump has a verbal committment to Morehead State, Oliverio, Johnson, and Cheeseman have all had requests from various D-1 schools. It's flattering but they all have a long way to go .

Your team beat Holmes by 44 and Ludlow by almost 50. Looking at the boxscore I see your team played about the same amount of people that Ryle did so should I make the same assumption about your program?

 

Ludlow game is fresh in the mind and the starters only played in the 1st quarter. ALL of the players on the team scored.

Help me out. I must of missed the furor over these recent scores.

As I said earlier games like this happen all of the time. Why is it that Ryle is the butt of most of the criticism?:sssh:

 

Let's look at the Boone games you mention here, since I believe I can show why Boone doesn't deserve criticism for them:

The starters played an average of 24 minutes in that game, an average of 3 quarters each, and scored 52 of the 66 points. Boone played 12 players in the game.

 

Boone 97 Purcell Marion 42

 

The starters played an average of 19 minutes each, less than 2 1/2 quarters each, and scored 51 of the 97 points. Boone played 11 players in the game.

 

Boone 57 Holy Cross 29

 

Starters played an average of only 21 minutes each and scored 32 of the 57 points. Boone played 14 players.

 

Boone 71 Campbell County 46

 

Starters played an average of 19 minutes each and scored 45 of the 71 points. Boone played 15 players in the game.

 

In the four games mentioned Boone starters played an average of only 21 minutes each (again, about 2 1/2 quarters) and scored just 62% of the points Boone produced in those games.

 

 

As I said in an earlier post, sometimes talent differences and other things simply dictate a lopsided score. But there are ways to minimize the score difference. Playing reserves is one way. In the four games listed I don't think a Boone starter played in the last quarter of any game.

 

The scores were lopsided but could have been even moreso had Boone chosen to play the regulars more. Coach Fookes chose to play the kids who work hard all week but don't always have a chance to get in games.

Let it rest fellows and ladies. Everyone here has a team they follow that has beat an opponent pretty badly. Ryle is no different, the beat Middlesboro very badly tonight. The entire team played, as they did the other night against Cooper. They have nothing to be ashamed of and the fans have every right to voice their opinions. My point is this, this is a sports forum. Now in the State of Kentucky that can get people riled up more than religion or politics. Everyone has their say and we all have rules to follow on here. I love my Lady Raiders and I love basketball an I will never be ashamed to plug our team and take my lumps when things don't turn out so well for us. If you have some hidden hatred for the Ryle program or school, I suggest you get over it because I'm not going anywhere.::ylsuper:

It seems to me that most of the bolggers have no hatred of Ryle players.

Most do not agree with how the coaching staff handled the substitution pattern in a blow out game. I have seen no post here that can legimately justify what happened at that game. The facts speak for themselves.

Are you saying you consider it "bad behavior" to play your regulars less than 3 quarters of games and allow your reserves to play significant minutes?????
