I think the referees started out great calling some elbow throwing and shoving from the starting buzzer. I think the fact that they nipped it so soon kept it from becoming a habit later in the game. But there was some elbow throwing that went unnoticed by the officials.

 

I heard the Blondie comment, but in proximity to where I was sitting I will say I don't think it could have been TMD.

 

I will also say that even though every player except 2 on the St. Pat JV are also on the varsity team, Coach Douglas is not going to pass up the opportunity to get a game in.

By the way I personally think that the officiating was pretty good. Of course like all of us everyone makes mistakes or does not see every violation. And of course the view of every call is great from the cheap seats

 

The only call that I thought was super bad was the end of the third quarter. That was obviously a jump ball or a no call. Very bad call on the three pointer.

Am I the only one who thinks Brossart can upset St. Patrick? They are quick, smart, and physical. That is a good combination, and even though they haven't won since Coach Kues, Brossart was the team to beat when the 10th Region was changed to include Northern Kentucky.

No, they are one of the three that I think this tournament boils down to. But looking at their schedule I can't really make an educated prediction. They do have 8 wins but 5 of those are against what I would consider weak teams, two are against teams that I really don't know enough about to know what kind of team they are (one in the 5th region and one in the 11th) and a 3 point win against Campbell County. Four Brossart losses, three which were not close games (all 25 points or more) and one that was a 9 point loss to East Jessamine, who by the way has a losing record so far this year. So I really don't know what to think of Brossarts chances. I won't see Brossart play tonight so I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Losing handidly to NCC, Boone, and Conner may look bad but those are three of the best teams in the region and state. Playing competition like that may help prepare them for this tournament. St. Pat's is not as good as any of those three.

I'll give you Boone and NCC, but Conner???? Conner only beat St. Henry by three and St. Patrick beat St. H by 17 and in all the polls I've seen Conner and St. H are ranked about the same. NKY coaches poll has Conner at 8 and St H at 9, Lit has Conner at 6 and St. H at 7.

 

Boone and NCC handed Brossart big losses, but could they have been bigger? When a team gets that far ahead, they usually put their subs in and let up on an opponent, so I think it is hard to tell anything from a loss that big. Could NCC and Boone won by a bigger margin in this game? Who knows?

I haven't seen the box scores to know how early NCC or BC had a comfortable lead to know if this could have been the case.

I'll second that:thumb: Maybe Coach K and the young ladies of BC read my posts here and used that as bulletin board material to get motivated, no way was these ladies 30 points worse than St. Patrick as the score showed at Villa Madonna. Now set some goals for Richmond, maybe win a game or two, might as well.:idunno:
