Highlands beat Newport's freshmen last night at Newport. I can't remember the score but it was a wide margin. Highlands' freshmen team is a solid group that will keep HHS talent pool solid for the next few years. Newport did manage to hang with Highlands for the first part of the game. Newport's freshmen lack discipline on the floor and IMO needs to learn to play as a team. Newport's #40 was about the only player going inside with his shot. Newport's #23 and #13 were too busy challenging every call the refs made to stay focused on the game. Nick True (HHS) was just too much for Newport's #33 to handle in the paint. True basically control the paint and made several rebounds.

The Birds played very good team ball and did a good job of spreading the ball out. True was a beast on the boards and they scored 59 points in 24 minutes of play so it was a very impressive performance. If they can get that type of play each night they can win most games.

Newport had 14 kids on the roster and only 3 scored I believe, they gotta get more from their bench.

Newport plays at Scott tonight (7:30).

Wow, NCC looks to have a pretty easy road to the final. I would expect them to beat St. Henry/ Holy Cross to get there.

Any updates on this Holy Cross Tournament?

Newport game against Ludlow for Tuesday has been cancelled.

Any updates on this Holy Cross Tournament?

Boone beat Scott by 8 tonight to advance to the finals. They play the winner of Holy Cross/NCC game in the championship tomorrow night.

I am assuming that the finals tonight will be Boone Co / NCC correct? Who won the NCC/Holy Cross game last night?

These Frosh games need their own final score thread.
