Highlands 48 Dixie 39

Featured Replies

Its up to the refs to keep the game under control. Physically I thought Dixie was dishing out a little more than Highlands until Grubbs came into the 4th quarter to neutralize some of the pushing and shoving that was going on underneath the basket. Not to mention the hand checking that was going on by the Dixie guards. But you'd better believe that if you can dish it out you'd better be prepared to take it in return.

Grubbs got called for two cheap fouls, one when he was going after a rebound another time the ref called a charge and the Dixie player clearly was leaning into him.

Don't get me wrong Highlands was fouling ALOT on the shots and the refs were doing their job and calling fouls. I'd like to know how many FT Dixie shot in the 1st quarter alone.

As far as last year's game at Highlands the Birds just handled them. I was there Boone was out-played and out-coached its as simple as that.

You won't hear anyone from Highlands making EXCUSES as to why BC beat them in the regionals because Boone outplayed Highlands on that night... end of story.

Not real worried what went on last year. Let the players settle it on the court in a month or two.

I guess throwing elbows and forearm checks are cheap fouls???

Seems like everytime highlands get beat fair in square somebody has an excuse! This thread was Dixie/Highlands, not Highlands/Boone Co.

I enjoyed watching this game, it was physical and Dixie matched if not brought bore physicallity to the game!

Sorry this "2 year old" has made points beyond your comprehension. The topic is the play of the Dixie/Highlands game from Tue. You continue to feel slighted about the loss at HHS last yr and again...what exactly is "illegal" about that style of play. Don't know Shields......don't care, the officials job is to call the game. If its physical and they allow it it is completely within the rules. (BTW the helmet/shoulder pads didn't fare to well for Boone either...just an observation)

Boone got outplayed at Highlands...Boone reversed it at regionals, I commend them for that. TUESDAY the game was physical by both teams and Highlands won that game......it's not anybody's fault, it just happened that way.

They all get to play again........smile !:jump:

Actually I don't feel slighted at all because I am neither a player nor a coach. I am just voicing my opinion. Forgive us for talking about the "STYLE" of play whether it be HH vs Dixie, BC or whoever. People tend to misread into others posts and get all wadded up, and that I understand considering the enviroment. So enough said about this :deadhorse:

The bottom line is Dixie couldnt get it done and Highlands allowed them to stay in the game because they missed over 10 FT's. Dixie is a formidable opponent and will make a run for their District title but lets just leave the physicality of the game alone. If you think they were too physical then my suggestion is go watch Swimming or something. You get downstate and it is much more physical than what you saw the other night, trust me.

You must have misread the post.

The charge along the baseline was weak. The Dixie player slid over and caught Grubbs side he never established position to draw the charging foul. The foul were both a Dixie player and Grubbs were going up for a rebound was just as bad because both player collided in mid air... it wasn't like the Dixie player boxed him out and Grubbs went over his back.Throwing elbows and forearm checks were not involved in these two plays.
