If this change happens I wonder what the 14 schools who remain in 6A with X & T will think of the change. Would this new 6A be more of a Louisville and Lexington large school class or based on overall enrollment?

 

How true! How many teams do you have to take out of the largest class - because they can't overcome their disadvantages, both the real ones and the perceived ones - before it just starts getting silly???

 

Maybe we should just have a 2 team 6A class... :lol:

It would be based on male enrollment.

The 16 team “super class” seems like what Tennessee does in a way, although it couldn’t be a private only class. Tennessee has two “private” classes; the larger one only has twelve teams in it. Granted it includes powerhouses like MBA, MUS, and Brentwood Academy, but each is significantly smaller then the “public” classes 1-6 which average around 46 teams per class. I’m pretty familiar with the Ohio and Tennessee playoff systems and between the three, OH/TN/KY, I think KY is better. Comparing Ohio to Kentucky is almost like apples to oranges because there are three times as many teams in Ohio for the same number of playoff spots. Tennessee is a lot closer in number of teams, but their new system is so complicated even the coaches and media don’t understand it, plus they have 8 state champions with the two “private” classes. I agree that the current KY playoff system isn’t perfect, but it is better than most.
