December 10, 200916 yr Author You do realize that the Supreme Court made that ruling BEFORE Obama was in office don't you. I would also venture to say that you are not up on your Hitler history . . . there was no PLAN that he had when he got started. The plan evolved as he gained more power and became more Machiavellian. Ever hear of Mein Kampf? He had a plan all lined out. It may have been adjusted as time went on, but he had a plan. I know the Supreme Court ruling was on Bush's watch, but he opposed it. Obama gleefully uses it to bring about more government control over our lives. Michael Barone had an article yesterday stating that we are about halfway to meeting the Kyoto levels without any new legislation or regulations. But people like Obama will not let the truth stand in his way of big government.
December 10, 200916 yr Maybe it would be closer to call BHO a ruler. After all, he did say (sometime after the primary) that he was ready to rule. His words not mine. I always though the POTUS was considered to be a leader.

I only googled it, because I generally don't believe what anyone on this site says (probably why no one bothers to give links), but, anyways, President Obama never said that, it was Valerie Jarrett who said that.
December 10, 200916 yr The comparsion is about the willingness of individuals to blindly follow someone they think that is on the same page as theirselves. Not realizing there is another agenda that this person is hiding from them. I do realize the Hitler comparsion is overused, but I believed this was a good place to use it. Besides some not paying attention to the Constitution or the hidden agendas of their leaders, many are ignorant of history as well or wish to blindly ignore it because their leader is so great in their eyes. Could not the same be said about those who swallowed what the Bush-Cheney administration said about "our enemies" in Iraq? Were you willing to compare the Bush-Cheney Administration to Hitler's power of persuasion as well? :idunno:

Please don't let facts get in the way. I had the same problem Sunday with someone reading an email in a Sunday School class that was assailing the Obama's for putting up a "holiday tree" and not allowing religious ornaments. A bogus email proved wrong long ago. Problem was then I was jumped because the Annoucments in the bulletin referred to collecting food for "Holiday" baskets rather than "Christmas" baskets. (Which we do for Thanksgiving and Christmas, 2 holidays next to each other) :ohbrother:

Most everyone jumped on board that Sadam had the WMDs, including most Dems and the UN. The arguement was over what to do. Give him an ultimatum or another warning and a chance to come clean, which would had been about the 18th time that was tried. Congress gave Bush the power to tell Sadam to give up the WMDs or we would come and get them. As it turned out we did find several tons of yellow cake, that eventually went to Canada, but nothing else. Whereas Obama played himself as a centrist. But what we have gotten is very different. Centrists do not take over companies, tell them who may head up the company and what pay they get, or spend trillions and pretend it is someone else's fault. A centrist does not attempt to help out a few without health care by taking over the entire system and threatenting those who do not play ball by fining them or sending them to jail. A centrist does not threaten Congress to pass "Cap and Trade" or he will regulate us to death. A centrist does not appoint individuals to postisions that have out and out said they do not like capitalism and their heroes are mass murderers like Mao or Stalin.

I agree. I also (heaven forbid) like to make my own opinion of the information in the article, as opposed to just accepting someone else's 'interpretation.'

I must apologize. I heard the "ruler" comment from what I thought was a reliable source. I should have googled it myself. I still think the White House threat to the Senate in regards to the EPA is rulerish.

Bush pushed through the Patriot Act before Iraq which bordered on infringement of Civil Liberties in this country. As to the "evidence" that was put before the world, it was poor evidence and intelligence at best and slanted fiction at worst.
December 12, 200916 yr Author Bush pushed through the Patriot Act before Iraq which bordered on infringement of Civil Liberties in this country. As to the "evidence" that was put before the world, it was poor evidence and intelligence at best and slanted fiction at worst. How many people have been unfairly harmed by the Patriot Act? There were some provisions I was not sure about, but this Act has protected the US. That evidence was bought by almost everyone, including many Dems and the UN. It was said that even Saddam's generals believed he had the stuff and could not believe he did not use them. Saddam may have pulled the biggest scam in world history, but as with all scammers, they eventually lose.
