If I got the first pick, I'd rather have Suh than to trade down and get more picks. DT's of his caliber are hard to come by...his presence could significantly upgrade their defense and give them a strong foundation to build around. Pairing him with Shaun Rogers would give them a formidable line and it would free up some in the back seven to make more plays.

 

If Quinn continues to play well, they have to give him a chance heading into 2010 to see if he can be the guy or not.

 

Taking Ingram would be a mistake...I agree with Pancake. They have more pressing needs and a solid RB can be found later in the draft or they could wait until next year.

 

They're set at LT with Joe Thomas. For a team that is trying to re-build, that's a nice piece to have. It also means they should be able to put together a solid o-line if they can draft and develop well.

 

They have to get a playmaker at WR. But, that will have to be done through free agency or the 2011 draft, IMO.

It sure looks like Suh's performance against Texas really caught the attention of a lot of BGP's posters.

I didn't sit down and watch a bunch of Nebraska games in their entirety, but I watched him enough to know he was the real deal. I heard or read about him earlier in the year and decided to see for myself when I got the opportunity. Great player. I think DT's of his level are a rarity, and can impact a defense as much as any position on the field, so if you pass for another position, you better be getting something really good.

 

I was hoping the Titans would bomb the rest of the season after their horrible start so they could be in position to get him. He'd be a nice replacement for the departed Haynesworth.

3-4 teams often prefer their ends to be bigger...many times guys that would be capable of playing the tackle position in a 4-3 scheme. You can't have enough good defensive linemen.

Seriously? Berry is probably the most talented safety prospect since Sean Taylor. Look at the effect Troy Palamalu has in Pittsburgh and Ed Reed has in Baltimore. A guy like Berry can make a good defense great in a few years.

 

Do you not like taking a DB that high? I could see that I guess. But, IMO Eric Berry is the truth and he has had a year under one of the best defensive minds of all-time in Monte Kiffin.

 

Also McClain is probably a safer pick than most offensive players this year. Unless you get a AP a top 5 pick is probably wasted on a RB. QB is a crapshoot as is WR. OL is a great pick there though IMO, if a quality one is available.

Like 5Wide, if he gets drafted by a 3-4 team, I see him as more of a DE, probably on the strong side, where he's going to have more of a run-stopping responsiblity than on the weakside. The man can and has played pass coverage, so in a blitz-happy 3-4 scheme, he could even do that. He is a talented guy. But, like you said, I don't see him as being big enough to be a NT in the pros. Just seems short or something. Would be a nasty DT in the 4-3 as well IMO. Kid is just straight up filthy on the D-Line.:thumb:

He's not a behemoth, run-stuffing DT. He's more explosive and disruptive. I certainly don't think he'd be a liability in run defense, but he offers more than that...he's one of the few guys who can be effective against the run, and be a serious pass rush presence from the tackle position. I agree. Its not like Cleveland is planning on winning the Super Bowl in 2010. Quinn, while not a proven commodity by any means, has done enough IMO for Cleveland to take more time to find out what they have.

 

That allows them to focus on other needs in the draft, and they have plenty of them. And, I couldn't agree more on building up the trenches. Since they already have a LT in Joe Thomas, Ndamukong Suh makes the most sense to me. I suppose you can debate whether he or Berry or someone else is the better overall player...regardless of who you pick, the margin between those players seems to be slim. The difference is the positions they play. DT is a more important position...its harder to get by with a sub-par line that vice versa.

 

Its true that guys like Ed Reed, Troy Polamalu, et al, are great players and playmakers. But, if you look at all the high impact safeties in the league, what do you find in common about their teams? All of them are strong up front...IMO, you have to have the front in place before you can expect big returns from the safety position. The Steelers and Ravens defensive lines (and front 7's) play a large role in what Reed and Polamalu do.
