After review, there was insufficient evidence to overturn the call - the ruling on the court stands.

 

After a couple of calls that went in Madison Central's favor in the last minute of the game (offensive foul on the handoff, no time out given to Montgomery Co. before the offensive foul)...... I'm glad the outstanding play was rewarded. :thumb:

:thumb: Although I do agree the ball was still in his hands at the buzzer. We do have the advantage of seeing it on the video and the ref doesn't. I think it was close enough that it would be hard for the ref to call no shot. Congrats to the young man who pulled it off.

Good point. Without video the ref's call could have gone either way, it was that close.

The biggest problem was not whether or not the shot was good or not, but the 2 seconds they added to the clock after Madison Central hit the last second three and the buzzer went off. There is no way there was 2 seconds left.

You may have seen it since you were there. The video doesn't show WHEN the clock hit zero. It just suddenly shows the scoreboard. Was that as the ball went through the net? Was it 5 seconds later? Was it 10 minutes later? We can't tell. That's the point.

 

By rule the official would have to have definite knowledge that there were 2 seconds on the clock when the ball went through and when the TO was requested. You are not allowed to wing it.

And the next thing you know 2 seconds were on the clock and they were clearing the floor. And again, there was no explanation to fans as to what was going on. Whether it was correct or not, it all looked pretty "fishy" to me. I always thought there had to "indesputable" evidence to over turn a call or in this case add time to the game. This is definately not "indesputable" ! Just my opinion.

To be fair, the fans don't deserve an explanation. Just the coaches.

 

Again, as far as "indisputable" its a matter of "knowing." At least one official should have been checking the clock as the ball went through. If he saw there were 2 seconds left then they would put 2 back on. If he didn't see it I can't think of any other way for them to determine that there were 2 seconds left. The rulebook does not allow for any "gray."
