My observations:

1. I have seen all 3 refs for a few years now. I always got the impression they were very repected refs.

2. The Central player shot the ball with 4.5-4.6 seconds to go.

3. Ball comes through the net and Crisp (on video) makes time out sign immediately to ref in corner. I have heard that another player also called but unsure who it was

4. Central charged the floor celebrating making it hard to see ref in corner.

5. Ref raises hand to signal the clock to stop. I am sure he probably blowed whistle too but was unable to hear it.

6. Clock operator did what he is suppose to do. If he did not hear the whistle the clock does not stop. And if the corner ref was the one that made the call, he definitely could not see him.

7. Referees meet after they hear the horn and instruct the operator to put 2 seconds back on the clock.

I was not for sure how much time should be put on the clock. What I do know is that is does not take over 4 seconds for a shot to travel approx. 18 ft to the basket. What I do know is that these referees that I have felt were always respected by 10th/11th region coaches did not meet very long to come up with the 2 seconds so one of them must have been watching the clock and knew how much time to put back on the clock.

It was a shame that it came down to this, but if a rebound had been grabbed or a defensive stop been made or if a team would have made at least 60% of its free throws the outcome would have been determined without the final seconds meaning anything.

No if there are less than 5 seconds, a team can take the ball out of the net and never have to inbound it if the other team doesn't call a time out.
