If Cincinnati wins today they go 12-0 and get shut out of a chance to play for the mythical national championship. So in essence the "every game means something" is out the window.

Exactly. TCU and Boise State also feel your pain. The BCS is just a horrible, horrible way to determine a "champion".

If we learned anything for yesterdays games it should have been that perception and reality are not always the same. Until the games are played out on the field the champion will only be the perceived Champion and nothing more...

Mala, might agree with the Horns there but we played too many teams who when we played them were 1/5/6. TCU/Boise/Cincy/Horns cannot say that and if you differ on that point, convince me with numbers/facts.

Why should it matter what they were ranked at the time? What is more telling is where they're ranked now that the season has played out.

 

Example ... Kentucky-Louisville in 2007. Louisville was ranked in the top 10 at the time, although it was painfully obvious very soon that the Cardinals weren't very good at all. Why should Kentucky have gotten credit for beating a top-10 team when it was clear that Louisville was overranked?

I've had Alabama as my #1 team all season, Larry ... I'm not arguing against them.

 

But it doesn't matter what a team was ranked when you played them. What matter is where they're ranked now.
