Does everyone really think Boyle Countys D is good enough to hold Lone Oak to 21?

 

Absolutely, alot of teams underestimate this rebel defense, then they get on here and say" man, their defense was the difference in the game". I, for one, look forward to seeing what adjustments the rebels make this week to focus more on the pass defense. Believe me when I say "your not going to get a ton of yards on the ground"!

Lone Oak has more playmakers and diversity on the offensive end than Bell Co, so, I expect them to score more than Bell did, but, Boyles D is certainly good enough to keep Lone Oak at 21 or less. To me, the bigger ? is how well will Lone Oak's D contain Boyle's offense. I trully think either team is good enough to take this game. All year, people have underestimated Boyle's D and Lone Oaks offense. Somethings gotta give..

I look at things like: How much was Bell scoring in their games? How much did they score against Boyle County? LexCath, same question? Boyle held those teams well below what they'd been doing.

Just an honest Question....All year everyone has underestimated LO's D as well as theyre O...Just sayin I think it will be a way more competetive game than a lot of people are thinking and know from the players that i have talked too that LO is not taking this game and opportunity lightly...They have some unfinished business left over from 07.The seniors were the ones that was in the 07 game and they are as focused and ready as i have ever seen a group of young men especially our QB and recievers...It might be this 21 points and that all we can get but i for one would be really surprised...

Boyle County is allowing just over 100 yards a game, and that's whether you're running or passing. After their 13th game they'd only given up 801 yards passing, 608 yards rushing.

 

BTW, you could fool the heck out of me about LexCath being heavily run. What with having 2,230 rushing yards on the year and 2,334 passing. They passed for 337 yards against Lone Oak against 159 yards rushing. What gives you the impression they are run heavy?

 

Also, compare LexCath's stats versus Lone Oak's. Lone Oak has 3,570 yards passing, 2,112 rushing on the year. LexCath is much more balanced then the Purple Flash.

Ah, but the dispute here was whether Boyle's defense was really that good. I made no bones about how good Boyle's offense is or how the game would play out. Only that Boyle's defense is good enough to do what they're predicted to do.

I'd say we could compare scores from the Lone Oak/LexCath, Boyle County/LexCath games, but IMO, it's pointless. Boyle County/LexCath is a rivalry game where in the regular season(first meeting) both teams normally play close to the vest because they are more often than not going to meet again in the playoffs when the cream rises to the top.

 

If you are going to compare scores, then remember that Boyle County was 2 td's better than LexCath in the game that mattered the most and 22 points better combined in both games. Lone Oak was 3 points better than LexCath in an OT game.

Yes, I like that. Lone Oak is the early 9 point favorite. Sounds good to me. Just don't edit it so I can copy and paste it for the Boyle County bulletin board.

 

As for the bolded....that could be the case. We all thought that about Bell County and Boyle County last year and Bullitt East almost beat Bell County in the Finals. It all gets left on the field come Friday. I can't wait.:thumb:

I think the T and X game will be closer. This reminds me of last year's game. T has been coming on strong lately, while X seems to be playing strong just like they have been, no more than that. But I can't really argue with the ratings either if you look at how the season for these two have been, on paper X is the better team. I cannot wait until Dec. 5. I also look for Mayfield to put more on the board than 20.
