4. What post-season format would you like to see in place? Force all 120 FBS schools in to 10 12 team conferences. The 10 conference champs would then play for the National Championship in a seeded 4 week tournament using existing bowls.

4. What post-season format would you like to see in place? I would use the BCS bowls as a playoff format. There are 4 other than the championship game. Pick 8 teams out, still give them the trophy for winning that particular bowl, but the winner advances, and use it that way. This way, the BCS is still in charge of what teams get BCS bowls, they still win the BCS bowls, just the winner advances.

Government 289-001, Methods to Political Inquiry.

Hey guys, I am working on a research paper in my Methods to Political Inquiry. I am looking into the BCS, and possible alternatives to the current system and other possible reasons as to why it is still in place despite its controversial nature. Part of the criterion for the paper is to employ different research methods-apart from the research style we are mainly using-so I am using a survey.

 

If you guys would be so kind as to read over these five answers and answer them for me, I would greatly appreciate it. I aim to try and get anywhere from 20-40 responses, so if you read this thread, please answer the survey questions. Most of the questions only require either a “Yes” or “No” answer, but if you would like to elaborate on your responses, feel free.

2. That it makes the regular season games sooo crucial.

3. That it is used as a money pit, and not is it always we find the best teams playing.

4. A tournament, like the basketball one, but lets say 16 teams.

1. No, not really, though I understand why it exists.

2. I do like that the BCS poll does not come out until 5-7 weeks into the season.

3. The undue weight placed upon the ability to schedule, and some of the random computerized factors that go into "weighting" the strength of a team or ballgame.

2. I think the formula used for rating the teams is alright. I also think the system makes for more high drama on a weekly basis because every game is so important.

 

3. While I like the rating formula, I don't like that it's used absolutely to select two participants to play for the title. There are too many strong teams each season that do not get a chance to play for the championship. And, often there are 3 or 4 teams that have equally strong arguments and only two get to play.

 

4. An 8-team playoff that consists of the 6 major conference champions (Pac-10, Big 12, Big Ten, SEC, ACC, Big East) and 2 at-large bids.

No, but I don't absolutely hate it like some do.

The current system really makes the entire season/conference seasons a factor. I also like the traditions of the bowl games.

 

3. What are some of the things that you dislike about the Bowl Championship Series format?

Some deserving teams from "non BCS" conferences (Boise, TCU, etc..) are more often than not left out. I absolutey do not feel for these schools/fans that complain about some other teams getting in when their teams did not win the games that they could have/should have won to get there.

 

4. What post-season format would you like to see in place?

Possibly a plus one if anything, then they could take the top 4, have true semi final and championship game.

I like the tradition of the bowls and as I stated do not "hate" the current system. I believe that what keeps things in place will be the $$$ factor. A.D.'s, Coorporate sponsors, etc. rule this thing whether we like it or not.

 

One comment that wasn't a question but I strongly feel that the Government (senate, congress, president) shoud stay the heck out of it :irked:. (They can't handle hat they have got. )
