UK Bowl

Featured Replies

After winning at Georgia UK has positioned itself to be the #2 seed in the East. Right now, I think they are looking good for the Music City Bowl, but a bad showing vs. UT might drop them back to the Independence. If they win vs. UT they could/should get up to the Chick Fil a or Outback. Pretty exciting possibilities for the last week of the season. Live it up fans, these days are hard to come by. :ylsuper:

Lose to UT Chick Fil-A beat UT Outback.

Here is how I see all the bowls going.

NC-Alabama

Sugar-Florida

Capital One- Ole Miss

Outback-UT

Cotton-LSU

Chick Fil-A (peach)- UK

Music City-UGA

Liberty-Arkansas

Shreveport-Auburn

B-ham-South Carolina

I thought about that scenario. I think it all depends on what the Chick Fil a bowl wants. If UK loses they would be tied with a lot of teams at 7-5. Would the Chick Fil a bowl want a Georgia team at 6-6 4-4 or a UK team at 7-5 3-5 or a Auburn team at 7-5 3-5? UGA has the best league record but probably won't beat GA Tech. Which means they will be 6-6 overall.

How about UK just winning and not having to worry about scenarios. That would be cool.

Oh I agree with a UK and Ole Miss win I will be doing 2 bowl games with family in friends in Florida and heading to Disney World, New years doesn't get any better than Disney!

A realistic possibility:

1. UK beat Tennessee

2. LSU lose to Arkansas

3. Ole Miss lose to Mississippi State

Would Kentucky at 8-4 not possibly be considered the best non-BCS bowl team in the SEC and be playing in the Capital One Bowl against either Penn State or Iowa?

The Chick-fil-A Bowl, or any bowl in the pecking order, is required to select any SEC team with a winning record before they choose a 6-6 conference team.

Highly unlikely, that all three of those things happen, but if that happened UK could end up in Cap One Bowl. But so could Arkansas who would be 8-4 as well and coming off a win against LSU. I don't see MSU beating Ole Miss though. Ole Miss has found their offense and MSU's O is too reliant on the run with no passing attack to score many points on Ole Miss D. Also LSU will go out and win one for Miles against Arkansas.

I agree - but that's not as far-fetched a possibility as it was a couple weeks ago. In that situation, I would suspect the Capital One Bowl would choose Kentucky over Arkansas based on proximity.

I do think Ole Miss will beat MSU, and I suspect LSU will beat Arkansas (although less of a possibility). In that scenario, Ole Miss goes to Orlando, UK to Tampa, and LSU to Dallas.

I would also look for the Cap One to take an SEC West team in that event. The west is without a doubt the stronger of the two divisions this year. If that crazy scenario happened you'd be talking about 3 teams from the West and 1 team from the east in that same scenario. UK's 1-2 record vs. the West this year doesn't help them either. LSU, Ole Miss are 2-1 vs the east, and Ark. is 1-2 vs the east.

It's safe to say that no bowls will extend invitations this week, but all will be watching very closely next weekend. Anything could happen!:thumb:

Agreed I'm feeling good up here in the drivers seat for the moment though. I really feel like we are going to come out and punch Miss. State in the mouth next week and they will fold like last year and we will blow them out. We weren't 45-0 better than State last year but that was the score because they gave up after we hit them hard in the mouth.

I am hoping for Ole Miss and UK win though I would love to take my good friends with me and do both bowls.

If Kentucky can beat Tennessee then it will open up all kinds of vacancies at the Bowl Game Hotel. A win against the Vols would more than certainly put the Cats in the Chic-Fil-A or Outback, both making it a very successful season and give us the best bowl that we have went to out of the last four years of being eligible. This is no where close to being as good as team as some of the previous three making bowl appearances, so that just speaks so much more volume of the validity of the situation. No matter what happens against UT and in the Bowl Game, this season has been a very nice success. Just think, Kentucky should have had two more wins on the record as IMO the Cats gave away the game at South Carolina, and the home game halloween against Miss. St. If Kentucky can improve their consistency going forward and win these type games that should have been won, then Kentucky football has a very bright future. We have already found out how to win and compete (physically/mentally) in the SEC, now we need to learn how to expect to win in the SEC.

I'm so proud of this years football team, they have played so hard. You cannot say enough about Locke, and certainly Cobb. What they have done and how they have carried this offense/team has just been amazing. Like the TV announcers said last night Cobb needs to be up for some kind of award. No player in the country is as important and vital to the teams overall success as Randall Cobb is at Kentucky....and the Legend of Cobb is growing.

I have to disagree this years team is WAY better than last years. The 06 team wasn't real good but got a lot of turnovers and breaks. The 07 team maybe better than this one but I think the 09 teams defense is better.

If the 09 team can beat UT then they would be the #1 best TEAM of the Rich Brooks era, IMO. If not they would rank #2 behind 07.

There is a possibliity that 6 teams (I think) can finish 7-5 in SEC. UT, UK, SC, UGA, Auburn, Arkansas. Then what happens? Which team would go to which bowl? Assume LSU and Ole Miss go to Cotton and Capital One. Could the Cats drop all the way down to Shrevport or Birmingham? Could they make it to Atlanta or even Tampa?

If you are a UK fan you have to obviously hope UK beats UT but you should put aside conference pride and cheer for Clemson and Ga Tech to take care of business, should UK lose to UT.
