Probably more of a retirement, but it is stated as a resignation.

 

I think it was obvious that he would get out while the program was on it's high. Watts and Roark are gone after this year, so it was imminent.

 

I think that's a pretty fair statement. After being in coaching for 30 years and managing to get McCreary to 7-4 it was a great way to go out. With Watts and Roark gone it will be very tough for whoever comes in as coach to compete in the district that they play in.

I agree with everything you said, even next year they can be competitive, the key here is will the Administration hire the right person and will they finally fund Football the way it should be funded? We will have to waite and see on all points. Everyone in McCreary Co. knows Football has never been a priority.:taz:

I do not think that everyone feels the same as you do about how things are funded with the sports programs in the county. I think that every sports team would always like to have more. It is what you do on the field or court that counts. Many teams have done more with less. Quit whining about the football team always being shorted by the administration. Who do you think would be the right person should be for the job OLD wise one?:madman:

If your observation is true, I guess Rob will resign also, his two boys will be gone. Watts and Roark will be next to impossible to replace. There are some good young kids coming up in McCreary program and whom ever they hire will have some kids to work with. Good Luck to all Raiders and their Staff.:clap:

I don't know how you are funded down there in MC as far as the split between football, basketball...etc.:idunno: Football is the most expensive sport to fund, but in my opinion affects the largest number of a student body in numbers.(the payoff) I also don't know which sport brings in the most money in revenue there in MC where an argument that the most lucrative sport should be funded the best. I do know this, as I posted in a Rockcastle posting on another discussion board very recently, when a community gets behind good coaching and good kids....good things generally seem to happen. The coaches that you currently have in place seem like very optimistic and knowledgeable guys. Your program seems to be headed in generally the right direction. Though the games you won this year might not have been over what some would (and have on here) be called "quality" teams, they DID win them. Would they have won over non-quality teams two years or more ago?....who knows? I also know this...if you guys terminate the current coaches or "encourage" them to leave to get a new group of coaches in just for a power struggle play in the county, it will do nothing but hurt your team. I'd give the coaching staff in place now a chance by promoting within before I cleaned the blackboard to start over. And as I stated earlier, get your community behind your boys for funding for facilities as well as general support...or you'll be sporting losing records to non-quality teams with a fractured football community.
